I think what he meant was that most people are excused from work when they have jury duty, but don’t get paid for that day. If I have a 40 hour/wk job, I can’t get those hours back. You’d have to make them up later in the week.

Your staying out of court rooms comment makes no sense. Jason Witten was an involuntary participant because he was summoned for jury duty.

Only Sapps show up for jury duty, the fines they threaten you with are a trick to get the unenlightened to show up. Many people are forced to miss work unpaid for that stuff. Just say no.

If this were a TV sitcom, Witten would be the only juror who thinks the defendant is innocent, and after days of deliberations he would finally hit on the one point nobody noticed and prove that he was right.
