Remember when the NFL used to be fun to watch? These arena league shootouts that Goodell, Bill Polian and Tom Brady’s knee are/were turning the league into is not the way football was meant to be played. I hate how defenders now look around after a big hit or play for a flag because it’s getting so out of control.

Johnny Unitas must be spinning in his grave over this BS…

You’re missing the point. Mike can’t make definitive comments on rules that aren’t definitive. It’s not PFT that’s gone wishy-washy; it’s the Goodell-run league. Roger likes keeping things vague so he can’t be pinned down in court or during player appeals. It’s a tactic–and it works very well. See: Washington, D.C.

Doesn’t it take 2 parties for any contact to matter. Considering that the Packers defense avoids contact, there shouldn’t be any concerns of where the line is…

Overhyped…. I don’t think Jeff has ever been hyped up… Just merely showed up every game and done his job for Peyton his entire career.. Not a real analyst in the game would say that about Jeff. He was a blessing to have him in Indy on and off the field. His off field philanthropic ways will always hold great value here in Indy. His jerseys we’re among the highest behind Peyton bc the fans loves Him
And still do. A outstanding football player and person.

It’s becoming more and more clear that the Seahawks got screwed royally. They levied 2 OTA days against the Hawks without even the player reps knowing what is acceptable and what’s not. Pull back the punishment against the Hawks or study the videos of every team and punish ‘em all.

Although this issue grew out of player demands, now that the agreement’s been signed, it’s the league’s responsibility to communicate to teams how much contact is allowed. This was my big problem with Goodell when he began issuing those astronomical fines to defensive players. Film frequently showed players being flagged and fined for legal hits. The commissioner never bothered to communicate, clearly and in writing, to all players and teams exactly where he was drawing the line.

For a corporate guy, Goodell has a shocking lack of appreciation for the value of corporate communications. One the other hand … as long as he doesn’t spell out exactly what he wants, no one can successfully challenge his declaration that a team has violated these unwritten rules. There’s a method to Goodell’s madness.

Some day he may also formulate the rules by which human beings conduct themselves in their daily lives. Any deviation from that code of conduct will result in fines, suspensions or both.
