Santonio Holmes has a reason for not practicing now

Last week, New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes was protesting being overworked.

It doesn’t appear he’ll have to make such a statement this week.

New York Jets coach Rex Ryan said Tuesday that Holmes would be limited in practice during this week’s minicamp with a hamstring problem.

There was no mention of an injury last week, when the enigmatic wideout “staged a mini-meltdown,” and exchanged words with an assistant coach.

Otherwise, there was a sense of normalcy at Jets camp, where Ryan decided to do interviews early (perhaps so everyone could concentrate on tracking second-team passing stats).

He also confirmed that Darrelle Revis was on hand (keeping him on track toward his goal of retiring as a Jet), and that safety LaRon Landry (Achilles) was present but not practicing.
