to mauicat1….keuchly was a definite probability…but he was gone when we picked…this guy will be fine…he never really got to hunker down and learn one position in college…he played the whole line and every game…if you watch his tape take into consideration the whole thing…like how his team was down big and he is still busting his but all over the field…this guy is going to be something special….

Before Goodell could get out his (Poe’s) last name, the crowd at Arrowhead on draft night was headed for the exits. The collective groan could be heard for miles. I would have much rather seen the Chiefs go after Fletcher Cox or Luke Keuchly. This pick had Romeo Crennel’s name all over it. Just hope the Chiefs did not make another bad pick on a D-lineman.

the same kc media that convinced others that haley is a crazy man, yet somehow one of the best team’s in football in history of the NFL, the steelers, go and hire this crazy mad man the same offseason? Yeah, now lets call out that KC media for being so easy on dontari poe, who has done everything right from the second he graduated and has recieved nothing but negative comments from youtube scouts.

Watch out Kansas City! No way will MIKE FLORIO let you “plant” questions to make your rookie seem like he’s participating! You have to get up PRETTY EARLY IN THE MORNING to get one past ole Mike here! Forget the fact that this question is asked of almost every single rookie who is participating without a contract since, I don’t know, ever?

Jeez, make sure you have your tinfoil hat handy Mike. They get you through your brain!

Well all I can say is I have been a huge Chiefs fan for over 40 years now and when Goodell said with the 11th pick in the 2012 draft the Kansas City Chiefs select: Dontari Poe, I said “oh God please say it ain’t so”. I truly thought Pioli/Crennel were much smarter than that.

Poe has no future in pro football. This was a terrible draft choice. I live in Memphis where he played college ball. He only had one sack all of last year against a VERY weak schedule including teams most folks have never heard of…

While it’s a little early to say whether or not Poe will be a stud, it isn’t exactly fair to call him assume he will bust based on his tape either.

He plays nose tackle. His job is not to generate sacks, it’s to be simultaneously fat and quick on his feet, draw a double team, and help his linebackers get sacks. He will never be a Justin Tuck or a Jared Allen, but as long as he’s quick and enormous and forces offensive line coaches to game plan around him, he will be doing his job perfectly. A good comparison player is Casey Hampton. Though widely regarded as one of the dominant 3-4 nose tackles in the NFL over the last decade, Hampton has only nine sacks in a ten year career.

In summary, a nose tackle’s success is not based on his numbers, but on his teammates’ numbers when he is in the game.

All we hear about is players holding out for that green paper! A young player is showing up to put in work and you bash him for it? At least the guy isn’t lazy and is making an effort to make the team. And no, he hasn’t signed a contract yet.

This is by far the worst article I have read on this site. I know the NFL news is slow, but come on man!

All points – probably true. But hey, he’s doing the right thing now so I’ll give him credit until the point (if) he starts blowing up into a disaster on the game field. It’s not that far away and he’ll prove himself one way or the other.
