APLions running back Mikel Leshoure wasn’t surprised by his punishment, but he’s still disappointed.
Leshoure was suspended two games, and docked two more game checks after an off-season that included being cited twice in the span of a month for possession of marijuana.
“I’m definitely not happy about it,” Leshoure said, per the Detroit Free Press. “I would love to be out there with my team, but I understand the consequences you have to face when you do wrong. I know one thing for sure and one thing for certain: I definitely learned from my mistakes. Still putting it behind me but got to accept it and move forward. Just come back that third game and put it in the past.”
Leshoure’s also coming back from a torn Achilles, and took part in some drills Thursday. His physical conditioning notwithstanding, the biggest stride he could make is in maturity, and he’s at least saying the right things now.
