Offseason of uncertainty for Arizona offense

At the end of offseason workouts and minicamps, most teams hope to have a clearer focus on their roster.

But for the Cardinals, the number of questions outweighs answers after their spring work, particularly when they have the ball.

They aren’t really sure who the quarterback will be. Running back seems similarly confused. There will be at least two new starters on the line, and their tight end position hasn’t sorted itself. Blending in first-round wide receiver Michael Floyd into the mix with Pro Bowler Larry Fitzgerald is probably the least of the worries.

“We’re just in shorts and helmets right now,” Fitzgerald told Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic. “You’re not seeing the full capability of the offense. I don’t think we’ve been extremely sharp, but I think we’ve made some good things happen. I’m excited about our prospects.”

Most of the focus as they move toward training camp will be on the quarterback position, where Kevin Kolb is actually being pushed by John Skelton.

But coach Ken Whisenhunt also challenged former first-rounder Beanie Wells, the running back who missed the offseason work while rehabbing a knee injury.

“He’s got to work himself back into being ready,” Whisenhunt said. “We’ve done the right thing with Beanie, as far as the off-season. He’s got to bust his tail over the next few weeks to be ready for training camp because we’ve had some guys look good there.”

Whisenhunt said he liked the fact his first offense made some plays in a Wednesday practice, because he’s confident his defense is going to be good this year.

It better be, because his offense may leave them on the field far longer than they’d like.

They need a better, more cool in the pocket QB, really! I just don’t think Kolb is a starter in this league. I may be wrong, but I doubt it! ( in my Charles Barkley voice, lol)

Why does Whisenhunt have to berate Wells all the time? He is the Cardinals single-game rushing record-holder. He is a beast that’s hard to tackle. Why can’t Whiz wise up and go to the Dolphins’ Kiick/Csonka set-up? Why all the hatred after all these seasons?
