I am pulling for Brian in the worst way, truly hope he makes it but also would have lawyers working on this case for fault imprisonment , the guy could have been a star backer in this league after all who,s to say he would not have been a standout at a D1 school, I wonder how fast he was then if now he runs a sub 5 forty at 25yrs old Go Brian Go!

just out of curiosity, doesn’t he have NCAA eligibility? if not the pros, could he go back to USC (or any other school offering scholarship) to play and work on his education as a fall back option in case?

BTW, it amazes me how some people can give a “thumbs down” to the positive comments and post about Banks!! You better hope something like this never happens to you!

Banks is aiming for a practice squad spot.
If Banks can’t get on the practice squad, a year in Canada will help him out.
Regardless I hope he makes it to the NFL and plays at least a year!

I think you are missing the point. True, a 4.77 is not competitive. But the part you are missing is that he’s only been training since late May. That’s not even a month of training. Shaving off .20 to .25 seconds from out of shape, to in football shape, is not unrealistic. Lets say that when he is in or close to football shape, he is only able to shave off .15. that’s still a 4.6 40, and there are PLENTY of LB’s in the NFL running that speed.

AFL labor dispute is over, that’s maybe a first step for him. He’s not even close to practice squad material yet. There are young, starting college DB’s from big schools, that won’t even be good enough for most teams practice squad. Feel good stories are for the Olympics.

Hes a ball of clay at this point. Any team can play him from rb to LB to safety to wr. Unfortunately hell b 30a by the time he learns a position and past his athletic prime but to b honest he sounds like a special teams player. That is what i would focus on because hes got the build and speed and its fairly easy to learn compared to offenses or defenses

Obviously the NFL is a business. It seems like teams are hoarding all of these roster spots, in hopes of finding a better/more likely to make the final roster.

I think whatever team gives him an honest shot, gives him a chance to get back in shape, and goes a little out of there way to coach him, is going to get one of the most driven players out there. There just isn’t any way a person can go through all the things he has gone through, with that incredibly positive attitude, without being incredibly motivated.

If I am and owner in the CFL or any minor league team , I am gonna’ sign this kid today, and give him a shot that was stolen from him. Yeah, I know. It’d be a PR move, but so what? Banks could at least showcase his talents and motivation to the NFL, and maybe next year he gets on some team’s practice squad. And also, he came out of prison with no tats. Brian must have known that a higher power was lookin’ out for him. If that had of happened to me and a million other guys, we’d have been hanging from a bedsheet. This is an absolute made-for-tv movie. Son, go get it. If anybody deserves shot, it’s you.

I hope some team will give him a shot. The arena league thing is not a bad idea for him just to get back in the mix of things and get some field time. I’d want him on my team just because his attitude is outstanding. And you can’t teach that.

Hasn’t played football in the five years since high school,, and I’m supposed to believe he can walk into an NFL job? There are hundreds of guys who just played for years of NCAA football, and didn’t get a sniff at the NFL. Unless they’ve invented a new ‘falsely accused of rape’ position, this guy doesn’t have an icicle’s chance in hell.
