As a real litigation attorney myself, I would expect a fellow attorney to attack the crux of my argument (that Goodell has acted unfairly) rather than offer absolutely nothing substantive. Blame your union. You players are paying them to represent your best interests. Hire different attorneys and or representation. Don’t put up with it. The owners are only looking out for their best interests, and you can’t blame them.

That sums it up. The mid-season rule changes on hits in 2010-2011 season are a prime example. They were nothing more than a reaction to the media. They were applied nonsensically, unfairly, randomly, without organization, in sum arbitrarily.

There were hundreds of issues to resolve in the collective bargaining agreement and the players needed to PICK THEIR BATTLES in order to have a season.

Goodells policies are superficial nonsense and window dressing. The guy needs to be regulated to improve the quality of the game and stop arbitrarily administering justice based on Mike and Mike in the morning.

The owners will wake up, listen to their players and realize they created a monster in Goodell.

However, even to those 5%, they reasonably expected that Goodell would exercise his power as j,j,e fairly. The term “fair” does not have to be specifically spelled out in the CBA. Fairness is an implied term inherent in every contract. When you agree to buy a car and the contract says that the dealer can “charge late fees” for late payments, do you think that the word “fair” needs to be in that contract or that the dealer can charge you whatever late fees he wants??? Use your heads people. This is the Saints’ bone of contention. Simple as that.

Even the staunchest of Goodell supporters have to agree that j,j,e’s back in William Wallace Scotland seemingly gave criminals more of a fighting chance before lopping off someone’s head.

You cannot litigate when antitrust among the teams are for your benefit!!! the antitrust exemptions for the teams are a big reason why there is a salary cap, parity, and other ways for every team and player to have a chance to succeed!!!

If it was said during Spring 2011 that you get nothing done while you litigate don’t have antitrust suits!!!

All of the litigation time could have been substituted with collective bargaining time!!! During the time where fans were siding with the players that was enough leverage for the owners to cave in!!!

I do not know how the NFLPA came up with their director candidate pool, but the next time you pick a director get someone who ACTUALLY has NFL-related experience. DeMaurice Smith never did and now look where it’s leading the players??

I don’t recall that part of the whole circus that was the CBA negotiations. I recall long periods of time where the NFLPA refused to talk and wanted to fight it out in court. I suspect the NFLPA picked their battles based on what would make the NFLPA the most money. I don’t know exactly how the union dues work in the NFL, but I bet the players getting a larger percent of the revenue meant more money for the NFLPA.

Withholding information, giving players losing millions of $$ 200 out of 50,000 pages, not disclosing witnesses, investigating a “problem” for 3 years and not stopping it while he had a chance but letting it continue as if nothing was wrong is all…..take a guess folks…..you got it…..

They should start by firing De Smith.

Hate the union? Then Kessler’s your man. He would have made the union disappear.

Maybe the players should sue the union leaders for collusion with the NFL.
