Mewelde Moore has a new NFL home, in a place where he’ll already know the offense.

Moore, a free agent running back who played the last four years in Pittsburgh, has signed with the Colts.

The 29-year-old Moore played his first four NFL seasons with the Vikings from 2004 to 2007 before signing with the Steelers in 2008. Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians was the Steelers’ offensive coordinator during Moore’s four years in Pittsburgh.

In his eight-year NFL career, Moore has played in 113 games with 15 starts. He has a career total of 494 carries for 2,247 yards and six touchdowns, plus 214 catches for 1,875 yards and seven touchdowns.

The Colts have also announced that they released quarterback David Legree, an undrafted rookie who signed with the team on May 17.

Good, solid, reliable depth player. Glad he was a Steeler and hope he finds success down the road in Indy.

If I remember correctly I believe Moore was actually the first option on the famous Santonio Holmes Super Bowl catch play. He’s a solid player that can be depended on to make a catch on 3rd down, or get a few more yards on a draw play than you expect.

Always drops passes in Madden though…

good luck to him. not a devastating loss, but it definitely doesnt help our depth.

I can’t believe Arizona didn’t pick him up.

Loved Moore in Minnesota. He helped me out in Fantasy his 1st year in the Steel City. Great fit in Indy.

I find this ironic because it seemed Arians shyed away from using Moore the last two seasons. On third down Moore or Miller were money, then for whatever reason the Steeler offense got away from that.

Not an elite back, but a great RB to come in for a few series here and there. He can make plays happen. In Indy with their subpar RB group, he has a shot to be a starter. Good signing.

i like the signing, good 3rd down back, good pass protector, will help Luck out alot, surprised he wasnt signed by somebody else, he also returned some kicks before too

He’s a class act. He will do a great job.

It seems like we are gathering a cornucopia of good-but-not-great players at RB.

Brown’s still going to be our starter, but I wonder why we pick up another back up when we’ve already spent draft picks on Delone Carter and Vick Ballard.

I wonder if Carter should be worried….

Yet another decent player who either was let go by, or refused to play for, Chilly, the incompetent, egotistical and arrogant dictator. Man, was I ever relieved and happy when the Vikings fired Chilly’s sorry ass!

Moore is one of those running backs that you wish your team would go after. The Colts need to have more than one good running back. Moore should have a fair chance of being the starter. I like this move.
