Report: Brian Price punched teammate before excused absence

Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Brian Price sacks Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub during NFL game in Tampa Reuters

Defensive tackle Brian Price was excused from last week’s Buccaneers minicamp, but before he left town, he was apparently involved in an altercation with a teammate.

According to JoeBucsFan.com, Price punched first-round pick Mark Barron during a disagreement during a players meeting.

The details on this one are sketchy, but apparently the two players exchanged words before the alleged incident.

This has been a horrible offseason for Price. His older sister died in a car wreck in May, and his agent said the grief has taken a terrible toll. He’s had his share of traumatic family events, losing both brothers to gunshots.

I bet Price was upset about being sent home from mincamp – So he then punched Mark Baron, haha.

During a meeting?! I could understand on the field letting your emotions get the best of you but a meeting. What an animal.

Rookie should’ve given up his seat…Respect it or get popped.

That’s part of the process of becoming a Pro. I like that Barron is a tough guy though…

Brian Price may have been a disappointment on the field because of injuries so far in his career but he has earned the respect of that locker room for all the work he’s put in getting back from 2 hamstring ripped off of his pelvis completely.

In the fact that his sister just died made even more of a reason for Barron to be respectful.

It is what it is…Rookie’s need to Learn!

    Go Bucs!

Grief does funny things to people. And he’s a lot of it in his life. I feel bad for the young man.

Why not put Mark Barron in the headline instead of “teammate”?

Will this be considered excessive contact and the Bucs penalized with loss of practice time…..

The players are obviously in total control of themselves.

    No need for supervision.

    SMH.

Before folks get to labeling the guy a jerk, try understanding the emotional toll of having now lost 3 siblings. He probably just snapped and really needs more time and possibly some counseling to deal with his grief.

Hoping as a Bucs fan Barron is not another personality cancer for this team. Been on the team for 2 minutes and already getting punches thrown at him. What’s the deal?!

Is that all you got? When the Saints are sweeping your team in the division I’ll be the one laughing.

Why hasn’t this been corroborated by the Tampa respectable media?

I can see why Price would react the way he did. I can also see why Baron would react the way. Regardless of the “rookies should earn their roles” thing going on in previous comments, I believe a person deserves respect only after it’s been given to you. If someone walks up to me at a movie or anywhere else and says, “get up”, I’m also going to say “fk you.” I’m just saying.
