Many of you seem to think the best help for the other players who suffer from addictions and are always getting busted for using drugs is jail. And funny thing is, many of them didn’t steal their drugs like Ryan Leaf was/is.

It’s going to be a long, hard road for him to completely get over it. I’ve had 2 friends who were addicted to painkillers and when they never got out of the habit of doing something illegal to procure it, I thought they were idiots. Then, I watched a few documentaries about how such addictions re-wire the brain and permanently so and realized it was more complex than just impulsive behavior.

Maybe he can start speaking engagements about his issues and help other athletes. I wish him the best of luck and he’ll need all the support he gets when he leaves jail.

It’s easy to rip the guys since they threw away great opportunities, but for guys like Leaf and Johnny Jolly I hope they do find ways to turn their lives around for good and just be able to live a normal life again.
