Getty ImagesFormer Bears director of college scouting Greg Gabriel is back in the game, after a fairly extended absence.
Gabriel, pushed out by former Bears G.M. Jerry Angelo in 2010 once former Angelo colleague Tim Ruskell had been pushed out as G.M. of the Seahawks, has joined the Eagles as a senior college scout, according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune. Gabriel will be working primarily in the Midwest.
Gabriel also has worked for the Giants and the Bills. On his watch as Chicago’s director of college scouting, the Bears drafted players like running back Matt Forte, receiver Devin Hester, linebacker Lance Briggs, and defensive tackle Tommie Harris.

Raise your hand if you thought this was about Doug Gabriel.
Don’t kid yourselves..Gold Standard.. : )
Dream Team fail 2.0 coming up!
Even as a bears fan, I have to add that there were a lot of really, really bad picks during his time as well. Like a lot.
Thought maybe we wised up, and replaced Bad Newz Vick with Roman Gabriel…
Good move. Has credentials and proven record.
That’s 4 players…how about ALL the busts he had ???
If you’re going to give him credit for drafting Briggs you should also mention the bears used 1st round picks on grossman and Michael Haynes that same draft
