He was a beast in a small body his rookie year with Favre throwing to him but couldn’t get his migraines under control. Now the headaches are fixed but he has been fairly quiet the last 2 years. I see another DeSean Jackson situation coming. Sad as Percy has handled himself quite well as a pro until this.

Only quiet because he plays in Minny. Harvin had 1300 yards from scrimmage last year, and that was with McBounce Pass under center for five weeks, and then a rook.

To those of you who argue that he’s already made millions and that he should be happy to play a game for a million dollars this season…get real. If in your chosen vocation you only worked for 5-10 years as opposed to “normal” retirement age, you can’t actually tell anyone straight-faced that you wouldn’t try to leverage every possible dollar during that truncated timeframe. Especially when you’re talking millions instead of a dollar or two extra per hour. It’s easy to say from the couch that it’s a contract and that he should play it out, but the vast majority of people out there would be fighting for what they believe to be fair compensation.

Again, as a fan I hate it, but it’s pretty logical if you separate yourself from it from emotion and fandom.

It’s capitalism people, plain and simple. We reward skill and are subject to supply and demand. Harvin should maximize the demand for his product (himself) before his supply of talent disappears with age.

This is ridiculous! Adrian Peterson worked his a** off for 4 years, never made a peep about his contract and was rewarded with a new contract with a year left on his deal. Percy has been in the league for 3 years and has multiple years left on his contract and he pulls this! AP is 10x the player Percy is. Percy – SHUT UP AND PLAY!

I’m with you on this, but in fairness to Percy, AD signed a top 10 contract when rookie contracts were still huge. AD’s rookie deal was for 3x as much as Percy’s.

Sure they can. It’s not like they’re going to compete this season, so what’s the difference whether they have Harvin or not? 3-13 vs. 6-10? Personally, I’d take 3-13 and the higher draft pick.

Don’t put this on Spielman. He has done wonders for this team over the years. No one should be caving in to a young reciever, though proven, showing that he is not team first.

I’m a huge fan of Percy Harvin, and he DOES deserve a bigger contract, and definately should have been played more than he was last year.

But here’s why people LOVE AP to this day: He is a class-act.

When Adrian Peterson knew that he was worth more than his contract, he acted like a man, put his team first, trusted in his bosses, and now he has a, what, 6-7 year extension, worth tens of millions of dollars.

Percy, don’t be immature. ANYONE who doesn’t show up to work is immature.

I might have to replace my revered Harvin jersey *sigh*.

He and his agent ought to know he has zero leverage to force a trade, so going public like this to try and strong-arm a new contract is completely mystifying…
