Has anyone ever thought that since they are both former Bucaneers that Wareren Sapp may have called Shaun Burger-King and they scripted and agreed on his comments about the Steelers ? Considering that Sapp was dead wrong last year, he gets another shot using another person.

Something he didn't mention about the Steelers is the pride most players have just being a member of the Steelers organization.

I don't know Shaun King and at this point I guess his predictions are about as valid as anyone else's... but, we shall see. I don't see it happening, not because I'm a Steelers fan but because I finally saw them address their most glaring weakness (the O-line, their Achilles heel for the past 4 years) and their D finished #1 overall last season - so even if they slip, they'll still be a top-5 defense. I just don't see where they are falling off this year and aside from snarky homers who don't seem to know the game, I haven't heard anyone give concrete reasons on why the Steelers shouldn't enjoy another post season.

I'm pretty excited about the coming season.

Wow, can’t we all see that. Steelers are getting older and not any younger at the moment. Many of thier defensive players are in thier 30′s and the Ravens and Bengals are getting better and better every year. Browns are starting to turn around, but it will be a while."

maybe you should stick to evaluating the afc west, home of the underachieving and rapidly declining thunderbolts.

the steelers are getting older and not any younger? are they also getting hotter without getting colder while getting wetter without any drier?

ravens and bengals are getting better and better? flacco has peaked as an average qb, ray rice isn't happy, and their receiving corps is mediocre. their o-line is average and ray lewis and ed reed will both be out of football very soon. they were fortunate to get where they were last season as the steelers were banged up badly and the afc, as a whole, was down. i mean who, other than new england, was even competitive last season in the afc? ravens wouldn't have seen the second-round of the playoffs if they were in the nfc last year.

cincy is getting better? i guess if you believe that weenie-armed dalton is going to ascend to the ranks of the elit qb's. cedric benson just bailed. who will be carrying the ball? cincy inherited a generous schedule last season: cleveland twice, the nfc west, and the afc south. if you want to look to the primary reason for their 'resurgence' last season, re-examine their schedule.

please don't embarrass yourself by mentioning cleveland.

"I agree that the steelers will be trying to climb that stairway to 7 for a very l0ng time. The team secondary is the weak point of the D in a pass happy league… Ike is an average corner with no good 2nd or 3rd or 4th corner… Troy is out of position 80% of the time… Lately he just looks lost… Harrison looks like he lost his edge and woodley got paid and doesn’t try.. foote is old.. Timmons an overated Ilb better at playing OLB.. Hampton and keisel is over the hill… Heyward is inconsistant……. Mike Wallace wants to cry. Ben an Haley will bump heads while they have a piss poor running back even when Mendenhall is in there…."

not terrible insight. but, since lake and woodson left, we've always had a pretty bad secondary. lebau's scheme doesn't require great cover corners. as a result, we're consistently around the top of the league in defense (with those "weak" defensive backs). troy may be out of position at times, but he's also a game-changer, one of the best safeties to ever play the game, and a first-ballot HOF'er. you take the good with the bad when it comes to troy and it's safe to say, we're way ahead on that one. harrison "lost his edge" due to a back injury. we'll see if his edge is still lost when he gets to compete at full-strength this season. same with woodley who "didn't try(?)" last season (see: hamstring). did you really say our rookie was "inconsistent"? no comment on that. our running game will be much improved with a younger, better line. i never cared for mendenhall either. i do, however, love the way redman runs (and we've got some nice, young change-of-pace backs giving us a combination that reminds me of the bettis/zeroue days).

i listened to all of the doubters screaming for the steelers demise in 2007. too old, the game has changed and their style doesn't fit any more, ben isn't an elite qb, blahblahblah . . . then we went out and won our sixth super bowl in 2008 and won our conference again in 2010.

keep begging for our demise. maybe one day, somebody will be right. in the meantime, we'll continue to be the winningest team in the merger and continue the powerful run that we've been on for the past, oh, forty years.

According to most wishful thinkers, the Steelers have been "getting old" for the past decade, yet they have continued to be a consistent contender. Could they drop off this year? Of course, but I don't see it. Their offense, particularly the skill positions, is among the youngest in the NFL. They have completely revamped their offensive line in the past three years. The concern is on the defensive side of the ball. However, they have gotten extremely young on the defensive line and linebacker positions. Next draft's focus will be the safety position. It's funny people continue to doubt teams like the Steelers and Ravens. Both teams fill holes years in advance. Sorry, haters, the Steelers will continue to be one of the most consistent teams in the NFL.

Still getting a lot of hate from Tampa from the Paper Champions comment by Lee Flowers.

As a Steeler fan it's definitely easy for outsiders to see how the team is falling. Some of the familiar faces from their 3 last three super bowls are no longer with the team.

But consider that the Steelers have only had 7 losing seasons since 1972. The structure the team is built will only allow the Steelers fall to last for a season or two.

This turn over is the beauty of the NFL and what keeps the league and franchises competitive. But for what your money is worth consider that while Steelers won't be the best team in the league each season, they will be one of the top if not the top organization/club/franchise in the NFL for years to come.

On one hand there are comments that the Steelers are old and on the other there are comments that lots of familiar faces are gone....
Even though I believe Roethlisberger is an idiot he is still rather young, has the same starting recieving corps as last year and 2 new offensive lineman.....and has been in 3 more Superbowls than Flacco and Dalton and whomever the Brownies start this year.
As for the defense....they were #1 last year and Dick LeBeau is the coach.
Not all the worried.

Steelers had the number 1 PASSING defense in 2011 and number 1 defense overall.. they finished 12-4. People keep saying they are getting old yet all the old guys have pretty much been replaced except for 4-5 guys on defense. Someone justify this decline that has been projected for the last 4 years.

It's kind of like the Boston Celtics. Everyone keeps saying how old and wasted they are yet they were one of two of the last teams standing in the east this year. What does that say about the other 14 teams in the east?

I agree that the steelers will be trying to climb that stairway to 7 for a very l0ng time. The team secondary is the weak point of the D in a pass happy league... Ike is an average corner with no good 2nd or 3rd or 4th corner... Troy is out of position 80% of the time... Lately he just looks lost... Harrison looks like he lost his edge and woodley got paid and doesn't try.. foote is old.. Timmons an overated Ilb better at playing OLB.. Hampton and keisel is over the hill... Heyward is inconsistant....... Mike Wallace wants to cry. Ben an Haley will bump heads while they have a piss poor running back even when Mendenhall is in there....

“Shaun King sees Panthers rising, Steelers falling”

King is a smart dude.

The Steelers' window is closing.

Their fans don't believe so. Then again, most Steeler fans refuse to believe anything is ever wrong with that team or its players, even when the truth is staring them right in the face.
