Bruce Irvin predicts double-digit sacks for the Redskins, um, Seahawks

Regardless of the number of sacks rookie defensive end Bruce Irvin has this year, it’s safe to say he’ll get none of them as a member of the Redskins.

We think.

On the latest edition of The Real Rob Report, a production of Seahawks Pro Bowl fullback Michael Robinson, Irvin says he’ll have double-digit sacks in his rookie season, but he doesn’t want to pick a specific number in order to avoid jinxing himself. (Or course, guaranteeing at least 10 would arguably constitute a jinx.)

The funniest moment comes when Irvin discusses the moment he learned he’d been drafted by Seattle.

“I saw a Washington number,” Irvin said. “I said, ‘Who’s calling me from Washington?’ Picked it up, it was John Schneider. They asked me if I wanted to be a Redskin and I was like, ‘Hell yeah.’ It’s a great organization.”

Robinson interjected. “Asked if you wanted to be a who?”

“I mean a Seahawk,” Irvin said, laughing. “I f--ked up. I f--ked up.”

Seahawks fans are surely hoping that the team didn’t “f--k up” by using the 15th overall pick on Irvin. If he gets double-digit sacks in 2012, they surely won’t think that.

The full show, featuring the interview with Irvin and discussions with, among others, coach Pete Carroll, appears below.
