I’m glad the kid has gotten cleared. Can’t imagine how bad that was for him and his family. I worked in the Texas prison system for over 25 years and prison is no place to be.

Having said that… This kid hasn’t played football in 10 years. Was close to 300 lbs a few months ago and recently ran a 4.8 40. He is simply not the answer to a teams LB problems… not the Vikings, not Seattle, not anyone’s.

Sure it’s a feel good story, but get a freaking grip on how hard it is to make it in the NFL. There are thousands and thousands and thousands of big, fast, wannabe football players out there. Very, very few every make it in the NFL. None of them go from not putting on pads in a decade to starting and helping an NFL team win. NONE.

So stop already with the Banks is the answer at LB chant. It’s just stupid.
————————————————–I not saying Brian Banks is the answer to the Vikings linebacker issues, hence the roster exemption idea. Give him a year to get back into football shape and see if he can make the cut. He is still young enough and from everything I have read about him is loaded with talent.

I like the idea of it and hope for the best… But he is overly aggressive and foolish on the field… He takes all sorts of dumb penalties… Good luck buddy

everson had a troubled rookie season and summer after. i think this, more than anything, has been the reason he has not been more successful in the league. after his second arrest last summer he got a stern talking to and was shipped to MN. he has been very impressive any time he has gotten on the field since then and they need to find some way of getting him on the field for more snaps. they played him a bit at both DE and LB last year. From both positions i saw him dropping into coverage and he did a pretty decent job. he is one of the defensive players i am interested to see this year. very athletic, very talented.

But you’re seriously defending the dude who compared Everson Griffen to Demarcus Ware?

Wasn’t poking fun at the Vikings, just the delusional fan. Similar to the Viking fan that recommended trading Harvin for Wes Welker AND a 4th round pick the other day. If you’re gonna knock me for not knowing an obscure receiver is a free agent, at least have the guts to knock your fellow fans who clearly don’t understand how the NFL in general works.

Now onto Everson, how ever we can get this guy on the field, Im all for it. great talent, just needs to be seasoned a little.

Have you seen this guy on special teams? He’s a frickin’ beast! Weighs about 270 and is the first guy down the field on punts. On a team with a lot of holes, they need to find more ways of getting their best playmakers on the field more often….hell, let him gain 25 lbs and put him at NT if he doesn’t work out at LB.

i think a guy who runs a 4.5 40 and is an awesome gunner on punt coverage has the quickness to be a LB. the only problem is we won’t know if he can play the position till they let him try

If the Vikes were going with 3-4 packages, this could be an awesome move. Not sure he has the footspeed/instincts to be an effective every down linebacker in a 4-3 though.

Seems like the Vikings are finally catching on here. Turn Everson into Demarcus Ware and use a solid 2 TE set like the Patriots. Teams will pay this year for trying to stack the box on AP, and if they underestimate AP’s health, well then he’ll make ‘em pay for that.
