I am a die-hard giants fan, and have been for over 30 years.
The one thing that always bugged me about strahan – was in ’97 or’98 when Jim Fassel’s mother passed and Fassel was away at the funeral – strahan picked THAT WEEK to blast Fassel in the media – i have never forgotten that, and i have never been able to be a strahan fan because of that. I will always consider strahan a spineless sissy for that behavior, no matter how much he comes accross as “a great guy and team mate” – but – that is just my opinion…….. and my opinion will always be that he is a GIGANTIC FAKE.

Where to begin? Strahan almost retired before 2007 and came back right before the season started. He played well, for sure, but if not for Eli’s two TD drives in the 4th of XLII, he wouldn’t be on those “hilarious” ring club commercials for the FOX sports guys. This just a few short years after he proclaimed he was not a “babysitter” when the Giants released Collins and drafted Manning. Stray, as a huge Giants fan, I love you, but stick to FOX please?

And as far as being flabbergasted is concerned? Guys like Tiki, LT and Burress have done nothing in their post-Giants career other than make the Giants fans embarassed they ever cheered for them. Stray has been pretty supportive of the franchise and, to this point, has stayed out of trouble. Therein lies the difference. Somebody is obviously still upset he picked the Giants to lose in every round of the playoffs and got his ego hurt as a result.

What everybody seems to forget is that Osi is a $7m BACKUP to JPP. Strahan was their #1 pass rusher and D-lineman. Big difference.

Let me see if I have this right. The GIANTS spend conservatively and have four Super Bowls in four consecutive decades. The Redskins spend lavishly and are consistently in last place in the NFC East. AM I MISSING SOMETHING HERE.

As a Redskins fan, the man deserves to be paid.

It’s hilarious how hard Dan Snyder is hated on, on PFT, but at least he’s not afraid to open the check book.

Granted, he’s made a lot of suspect decisions, but contract negotiations are never an issue in DC…something all Redskins fans appreciate.

Fair point about Tiki, but in all honesty, when I read the headline, I thought to myself “just shut up Strahan, things are going smoothly right now.” Not that Osi could adjust his contract so soon after signing a new deal anyway, and he’ll be a FA next season, but there’s no point in stirring the pot. That being said, Strahan has always supported the Giants since retiring, rarely said anything controversial, and, barring anything major, will always be held in high regards by Giants fans.

Robbery? Let’s see – He has two jobs, but he only does one of them well. In fact, the second one – stopping the run -he’s so notoriously bad at, that opponents game plan to exploit it. He has a long history of injuries keeping him out many key games. He denigrates and insults his bosses and has – on occasion – become a locker room distraction. Finally, he’s coming towards the end of his career and there is young player on the team that is already better and shows the potential of a Hall of Fame career. Sorry, Stray, if anything, he’s more than fairly compensated. You were a great Giants, Mike, and I thank you for your contributions to the team. But, you have serious judgement and perspective issues when your emotions are involved. Just look over your divorce papers and you’ll know what I mean.

The Giants are paying a back-up end $7million next year. Perhaps Osi could have fetched more in the open market, but I can’t imagine that the Giants could have afforded to give him more of their wallet share. Remember, part of Osi’s situation is a product of contracts that he signed without a gun held to his head. If Osi made poor business choices, he screwed himself.

He should hold out, demand a trade, and come to New Orleans. According to God-dell, there are plenty of opportunities here to supplement that meager income for a defensive player of Osi’s caliber.

Didn’t Osi sign this contract extension after negotiating it during his second year in the league?
So next time play out the whole contract and have more leverage. I hate when players sign deals then in a couple years hate the deal they negotiated and bitch about more money.
