Eagles, Cowboys have Twitter skirmish on Vick’s birthday

Dallas Cowboys v Philadelpia Eagles Getty Images

The Eagles and Cowboys engaged in a little Twitter trash talk this week, occasioned by Michael Vick’s birthday.

Vick turned 32 on Tuesday, and whoever runs the Cowboys’ verified Twitter account thought it would be funny to commemorate the occasion by giving Vick a birthday greeting that included an image of Vick being dragged to the ground by Cowboys outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware:

But then whoever runs the verified Eagles Insider Twitter account came back, and came back strong, with a reminder that the Eagles got the best of the Cowboys last season:

For those who don’t recall, in two games against the Cowboys last season Vick went a combined 39-for-60 for 572 yards, with four touchdowns and no interceptions, plus another 10 carries for 60 yards. The Eagles won the two games by a combined score of 54-14.

In this Cowboys-Eagles battle, I’d have to say the Eagles come out on top. Just as they did twice on the field last season.

Is there anything better than the NFL East? Awesome Division and the best in football.

  2. daddyblack702 says: Jun 27, 2012 6:16 PM

Gotta love it. Eagles will wipe the field with Dallas AGAIN this year. Tony Romo will once again be let off the hook in Dallas as they fail, yet again, to make the playoffs. Damarcus Ware will get another 20 meaningless stats as he has proven that he will get his numbers. Won’t really help win for that matter, but he’ll still be the top pass rusher on the Top 100 countdown on NFL Network. Hahahahaha.

Eagles smack talk is always cute. Surely they don’t want to get into a history war with the Dallas Cowboys.

    Pipe down.

Too bad the Giants owned both of them last season.

Cowboys fans will say something about the Eagles never winning a Super Bowl and Eagles fans will talk about their pre-Super Bowl era championships. None of it has any relevance in regards to this upcoming season or last season.

As an Eagles fan, I say let’s cut the crap, the Eagles were clearly better last season despite the colossally disappointing season they turned in. But it doesn’t matter at all. The only thing that matters is that neither team saw playoff action and they got to watch the Lombardi Trophy end up in their division rival’s hands. So I think we should all shut up and let the games do the talking this season.

It was Osi who wished McCoy a Happy Mothers Day. And the Giants hardly owned the Eagles last season. They lost to Vince Young, for Christ’s sake. All that said, they did own the NFL by winning the SuperBowl. As a rival fan, I tip my hat to them. But like someone above said, let’s just shut up and play some football this fall.

And when speaking of a trophy case, it means superbowls….but if you want to go ahead and count ALL those years of being a franchise, Giants own a 81-73 record Verse the Eagles…….Have 8 championships Vs. the Eagles 3 and the Eagles have an all time losing record of 517-549-26 have been around for almost 80 years and have 3 dusty trophies from Back in the day….

  34. mnlittle says: Jun 27, 2012 8:19 PM

The eagles will always feel inferior to the Cowboys because they will always be far behind them in Super Bowl victories. Just look at who they have as their QB. A despicable criminal like Vick. How desperate were they just to have one Super Bowl trophy? So funny!!!!

  35. mullman7675 says: Jun 27, 2012 8:20 PM

Relax, people. Let’s get this straight.

When talking about championships, you have to compare apples to apples. It’s about SuperBowl victories, nothing else.

Also, let’s all agree that in the grand scheme of things, regular season victories are meaningless. I mean, the chargers are an excellent example. They have had great regular seasons, but nothing to show for it. The eagles have had a bit more success in the postseason, but still, zero championships. The cowboys are at the top of the superbowl list. In fact, the eagles are the only team in the division that does not have MULTIPLE championships, let alone one. Eagles fan needs to be seen and not heard (dare to dream the impossible dream).

Pre-superbowl championships and regular season wins are
meaningless- win a superbowl, then you can bark. Until then,
    shhhhhh.

    You got that humbolt?

  36. seahawks19081 says: Jun 27, 2012 8:22 PM

I’d gladly wipe out the 4 SB era trophies, and compare the Eagles 3 to the Giants ___. Hmm… maybe I’ll let you look that up. Then of course, you could add the two together and find that the Giants have more than twice the Eagles total Championships…

  40. mullman7675 says: Jun 27, 2012 8:47 PM

The eagles have nothing in their trophy case.

steelers, 9ers, cowboys, packers, giants, RAIDERS, patriots, redskins.

That is the list- these are the champions that matter. The RAIDERS get the tie-breaker ahead of the pats and skins because:

    1) the patriots are a franchise rooted in cheating and lucky calls (spygate, tuck rule).
    2) The RAIDERS completely SMOKED the skins in SB XVII when the skins were defending champs. Remember, marcus allen “running with the night”? Still the best run in SB history, hands down.

I hope this clears it up for you people- 2 SB’s are nice, but it takes 3 to get in the club… As for the chargers, eagles, seahawks, falcons and the other teams who have yet to reach the pinnacle (buffalo is at the top of teams that have never won, 4 appearances in a row will NEVER be matched, respect must be given even though they got handled in 3 of 4 games), keep trying.

Until then, just shut up already.

God your like a bunch of whiny babies. Its not like when a team wins a championship they can all of a sudden brag about it forever. Its called celebrate, be happy then move onto the next season. Its just how it goes. With the offseason almost over everyone will soon be 0-0. Honestly I think the Eagles are the best team in this division and will win it in 2012. I love the Cowboys but wish “Cowboy Nation” would just shut up. Until the ‘Boys can do something big on the field, it is best to just stay quiet and work hard.

You gotta love giants fans. In a year where they really had the advantage because Dallas and Philly not only had a ton of player changes but also brand new schemes and no trainning camp. The giants came in basically the same team. coaches players oh minus Kevin boss and Steve smith which they swear we’re huge loses lol just as huge as martellus Bennett was for Dallas this offseason. Yet the giants once again back into the playoffs at 9-7 lol one game better than two teams that really struggle to grasp their d. Ten they catch huge breaks furring the playoffs ie catching Atlanta outside the dome cause in it they have no chance of beating them. Playing greenbay who obviously were off the mark because they litteraly rested all their starters for about a month. Then they face a 49er team that ha no return man which is what cost them the game but barely beat a team who completed 9 passes and only one to a wideout lol pitiful. So they get new England with a hurt gronkowski and ha it not been for on off the mark pass by Brady they wouldn’t have one that. So in summation they were lucky and it took them to get to 9-7 with all of the changes in the NFC east besides them Eli had to have a career year which won’t happen this year because he gets to play some top notch deffenses. So giants fans enjoy because now its a level playing field you’ll be third if you are lucky and this comming from a bears fan

    ————————————————————————

This has been one of the better statements concerning the NFC East rivals. Very well said Eagles fan. The past is the past, and anything past 10 years is not relevant here. I hate to see skins fans talk about the past, when in the past 10 years it’s been pretty embarrassing to watch my team continue to be the joke of the NFL. Let’s just be excited about the NFC East being the best division in the NFL, and all 4 teams should be very competitive this year.

  75. markdamack says: Jun 28, 2012 8:29 AM

Haha, as a Cowboys fan, I love it. They kicked our asses last season, but let’s get these rivalries back to where they were. This isn’t a slight to the Redskins, but they have a Cowboys week up here!! The Cowboys don’t even seem to care when the Redskins game comes up.

They only really seem to hate the Giants, not even the Eagles as much. I love the NFC bEast. This is fun.

“whoever runs the verified @EaglesInsider tag…”

Dave Spadaro. And ‘atta boy, Dave. Cowboys are having a little trouble with the eagles right now. So are the giants, for that matter.

No matter how empty the trophy case is, brosephs, the owning-the-cowboys-and-giants case is getting a healthy dose of hardware now-a-days. #truth.

I am a huge Cowboy fan, mostly goes back to the early 70′s when there was more class running the team. Gotta admit, you don’t trash talk unless you are backing it up. It is no secret we have a bunch of idiots with no football sense running that front office. So, I can’t say I am surprised by the tweet, but I am embarrassed. I am afraid that when Jerry is gone, his son and that grandson that is always sitting in his box will be running the show and I dont expect things to be much different… a chip off the old block as they say. So disappointing..

  78. gtownheroe says: Jun 28, 2012 12:29 PM

Since people like to talk about recent success..I cant recall the last time the eagles won a superbowl either…thats crazy..a fanbase thats simply satisfied with recent playoff appearances or even just a deep playoff run…thats quite the resume haha good job guys

On a side note to this bit of fun, I’m a life long Cowboys fan, and truly dislike the Eagles and Redskins, and am neutral regarding the Giants. However, if the Cowboys don’t get into the playoffs I always pull for any NFC East team that does. The NFC East has had more teams in Super Bowls and won more than any other conference. I expect that to continue because of the great rivalries within the conference that pushes each team to play to their utmost abilities.

@mrmafaka, take of your granny panties and let it go. He did his time, paid his dues, learnt the hard way. Now he’s straightened himself out. Stop being an idiot, let it go. Are you bashin this way on Big Ben? I’m gussin not. Grow up, learn to forgive. You’re just a sad little excuse for a human being if you can’t forgive.

…….. My vote is on Dallas to take back the East. They were a blocked kick, a missed field goal from making the Giants irrelevant last year anyway. Where were the Eagles at the end of the season? ……

Uhm… ahead of the Cowboys ;-)

I guess I should clarify success. If by success in making money yes Jones is successful but success in winning football games and championship that is a big “no”. Jimmy Johnson is the reason for their SB successes although Jones won’t admit it and that is why he let Jimmy go. He couldn’t stand for Johnson to get the credit he deserved.

  85. texasaaa says: Jun 30, 2012 1:42 AM

This is obviously designed to sell tickets if it was approved by JJ.
I hope the Cowboys sell enough to pay for this mistake. The last time we got into a trash talk situation we got our butts wiped.
This is the most immature, sure fire way to get another team to play over their head that has been proven over and over again.
I would fire the heck out of the poster and bar them from ever coming to the stadium again.
We are going to have to produce before we can think about spouting our mouths off again.
If we lose the first Eagles game we can thank this stooophus.

The longer your list got the more irrelevant your argument became. That’s an awfully long list of excuses to just be attributed to luck. The fact is everyone had the chance to stop a 9-7 team and failed. I’m sure you had an equally long list of excuses for the choke job your Bears pulled off though.
