Andrew Luck still not worried about his contract

No. 1 overall draft pick Andrew Luck has yet to sign his rookie contract, a fact that has been turned into a story by a media starved for news between the end of spring practices and training camp. Football junkies need something to talk about.

But Luck isn’t the least bit worried about it, and he made that clear in an interview with Alex Marvez of FOX Sports.

I’m sure [the contract] will get done,” said a confident Luck. “Honestly, I let my agent worry about that side of things.”

The Colts don’t open training camp for another 30 days, so there is plenty of time for the club to hammer out contract details with Luck’s representation. Luck insists he’s thinking about other things.

“I focus on football, especially having missed so much [practice] time because of school,” Luck said. “I didn’t want very many distractions to make sure I catch up in terms of time with everybody else.

“My agent will handle it.”

I don’t believe a word he says about the matter, but I am impressed by the way he has handled himself thus far.

All I know is this… I look at Andrew Luck and see a clueless, eventual BUST. I look at Robert Griffin the 3rd and see a confident eventual CHAMPION/HOFer Brother. Redskins WON.

I think what he means is, “I was the first overall pick. I will get paid”

The colts are still winless here in week 4 and luck not signed yet, still isn’t concerned about his contract. Hopes to get it done by the end of the year.

With the new slotting system, even if he held out and re-entered the draft next year the amount of $ he would get would not be that much greater. The big fight now is that the Colts want an exposure plan in terms of what endorsements he would be allowed to seek and to see that any of the teams partners who are competitors to any potential Luck endorsee be allowed to match the offer. Sad but true
