The Dolphins promoted director of player personnel Brian Gaine to assistant general manager Thursday.
Gaine, who previously worked with Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland in Dallas, had interviewed for the St. Louis GM job this offseason.
“This is a very deserving promotion for Brian,” Ireland said in the team’s release. “He earned this position by not only his continued and unquestioned trust, loyalty and commitment to the Miami Dolphins organization, but by his continued efforts each and every day to strive for perfection.
“His attention to detail and professionalism has ultimately paid dividends to his growth and development and he will continue to be a very valuable member of the organization.”
Gaine has also worked for the Jets, with whom he spent time on the practice squad in 1996 as a tight end. He also was on the Giants practice squad, and went to camp with Kansas City the following year.

If the Dolphins start terrible ,once again, he will gain the new title of interim GM.
Well deserved based on the outstanding job he has done with Jeff Ireland building the roster resulting in multiple AFEE titles and Super Bowl appearances.
