Up til the old softy Del Rio got here in 2003, the Jags were almost unbeatable at home. From 1997-2001, the only team with a better home record then the Jags was the Green Bay Packers. So for everyone that thinks practicing in the non-heat is a non-factor…u really need to do your research. I have several friends that moved down from up north and just melt in the heat. Being used to the heat is a mental and physical advantage!

The issue is also that in the summer it rains more often in the afternoon here in FL, so its better to get a practice in pads before the rain starts.

^^have you ever been in a football practice with a 105 heat index its downright cruel I’m sure its hotter in Florida certain states have a limit for high school practices

Taken seriously?

Of course they don’t have the long term failure of such storied franchises as the Lions. They don’t have a loud-motheed foot-fetish coach. In their time in the league they have had more success than ‘America’s Team’. And the ‘Skins’. And many other teams.

There are 2 main reasons why they would not be taken seriously: playing in one of the largest stadiums in the NFL…and ‘fans’ who get all of their knowledge from ESPN…at least that ‘knowledge’ they can process while shricking in pre-puberty delight when Berman, Scott, Skippy, etc., appear.

Okay, every high school in the area has 2 a days as well. These guys are professionals there shouldn’t be an issue. In fact the Jags should use it to their advantage.

The NFL schedules 1:00pm games in Florida during September…the hottest month of all in Florida. so morning, late afternoon, evening practices are kind of a non-story.

The Jags are the Jags. Temperature has little to do with their issues. Once they are done with northern Florida then maybe they can be taken seriously as an NFL franchise.
