Aqib Talib credits Greg Schiano for bringing order back to the Bucs

Buccaneers cornerback Aqib Talib has a reputation as an undisciplined player, but he says he welcomes new coach Greg Schiano, who has a reputation as a disciplinarian.

Talib said on 790 the Zone in Atlanta that he can see through the Bucs’ nearly perfect attendance at offseason workouts that Schiano has provided the structure the Buccaneers need.

“It got a little loose last year where people got a little too loose around the building,” Talib said, via SportsRadioInterviews.com. “So Schiano definitely came in and brought that order back to the building.”

It doesn’t speak well for former Buccaneers coach Raheem Morris that several players have said in the months since Morris was fired that they’re glad to have more order in the building. But all indications are that the players are buying into Schiano’s program.

Talib said he’s gratified that he and Schiano are starting with a clean slate, even though Talib has had his share of off-field problems. One of those problems is now behind him, as Talib recently had a charge of assault with a deadly weapon against him dropped. Talib says the man who accused him of shooting a gun at him was targeting Talib because he’s wealthy.

“It was killing me, man,” Talib said. “It was a bad situation where a guy had a couple lies to try to put a extra couple dollars in his pocket. But it was killing me, man. It was just a bad situation and I’m just glad it’s behind me.”

Now Talib can get back to work, for a coach who’s bringing just the kind of order and discipline that Talib says he wants.
