Way to act like a pretentious whiner Brees.

Give me a job where I can trash talk the CEO of my company on national television and get paid millions to do it.

In fact give me a job where I can use profanity when yelling at co-workers, trash talk my company on twitter & facebook, get busted for a DUI, smoke weed, use drugs, sell drugs, face charges of assault, affiliate with criminals, befriend murderers, shoot myself in the leg, beat my wife, hit my girlfriend, abuse animals, father 9 kids from 7 different women, punch a cop, get arrested for disorderly conduct, serve time in prison and not only get to keep that job but make millions off endorsements, get hindquarters smooched 24/7, have around 2 months of vacation per year, health care, meals & get paid millions of for it.

I don't have a problem with how much these guys make. I have a problem with how much these guys make and yet they think they're immune to acting like mature adults. I don't think a single one of them could handle the real world. It's no wonder so many of them end up suing the NFL after they retire. Being held accountable for your actions when you're a regular person stinks but it's what grownups do It's not meant for wimps like the NFL players of today who seem to think the sun doesn't rise until they get up.

Scandin -- You might be interested in knowing that the players on your team have a great deal of respect for Vilma for showing no fear against the NFL's dictator. Your coaches respect Joe vitt for speaking out. They respect drew Brees for speaking out. There's a reason why no defensive players on other teams have pointed a finger at the Saints. Because they know Goodell could accuse them of the same thing. If you had ever played football on a real team, you'd know that the locker room before a game sounds just like Roman Gladiators preparing to go into battle. The talk ain't pretty, even in little league.

Brees' comments were quite befitting those of the unquestioned leader of a team that largely refuses to take any responsibility for it's misdeeds.

Brees goes on national TV to smear the NFL, while accusing the NFL of a smear campaign.

The best part of all of this is the Karma involved-

The more Brees talks, the more respect & goodwill he loses from NFL fans. I know Brees claims the Saints have unshakeable confidence, but the Saints have never had to play an entire season as public enemy #1. The Saints will be getting every single team's best effort, as if they are a hated rival.
Add in all the bounty-related distraction & the absence of Sean Payton, & my money is on the Saints NOT making the playoffs...even if they do, I'll gladly pay up to see the entire Saints' defense get trucked by another RB the way Marshawn Lynch did the year before last.
Classic.

You guys are hilarious. The NFL is on a witchhunt, that is clear. And what else is clear is that they are lying about the “50,000″ pages of evidence and testimony they claim they have! Seriously, 50,000 pages?

The NFLPA should sue to force them to open the books on the NFL equivalent of the 9/11 Commission Report, because I guarantee you 90% of it is total nonsense.

Way to go Drew, keep telling it like it is.

A player on YOUR TEAM jokes about being paid after a hard legal hit. Would there be any way that you'd say he deserves to be suspended for a year? Of course not, and that's why this whole thing has been taken to a strange level that defies logic.

Several posters here have mentioned the Patriots getting caught in spygate.

Yes they cheated, yes they got caught, and they got penalized including losing a number 1 draft choice.

The difference between the Saints and Patriots is that New England didn't deny it, they didn't sue the league, they didn't go on TV crying foul, they didn't claim everyone else did it.

You know what they did, they built off it and went on to have an undefeated regular season.

Brees has become a multi-millionaire thru pro-football, and now his mouth is about as accurate as a mal-functioning Scud Missle. He just needs to shut up IMO.

Listen, anybody that has any kind of football knowledge that watched the 2009 championship game between the Saints and the Vikings could see that the Saints players were purposely trying to injure Favre. I said to my wife half way through the second quarter that the Saints players are playing dirty and taking cheap shots on Favre.

Now its one thing if the Saints players were just fired up to be in the franchises first Championship game and were a little to over zealous and were hitting Favre late after he hands the ball off to Peterson on a running play, Diving at Favre knees and ankles after he’s already passed the ball, elbowing Favre head after the pass was gone, etc. etc.

But 3 years later we find out the truth, those players wanted the $35,000 bounty that was placed on Favre head by coach Vitt, Vilma, and a felon that has mob ties that coach Peyton seems to be buudies with?!

Thinking about this disgust me and if I was the commish, none of these low lifes would ever step onto an NFL field again. Personally I beleive they should be locked away from respectable society.

This is exactly the type of reader I was talking about. No intensions of understanding. First off, that wasn't the Saint first championship game. It was their first championship game at home, but it wasn't the first one they played in. Second, the NFL has already come out and said that ledger was inaccurate when it comes to coach Vitt's pledge of $5,000. I'll reiterate the *NFL* said that wasn't accurate. You're a Vikings fan, I understand you are upset over a game played nearly 3 years ago, but if you seriously think the Vikings lost because of a "bounty" than I would advice you to watch that game again, particularly the last minute of the game and watch the melt down the Vikings had (12 men, interception) well in field goal range. I'm sorry the Vikings shot themselves.

Well, we know that there were bounty allegations wherever the former Saints defensive coach was a defensive coordinator. Brees, that is not a smear campaign. That is a fact!

What is demonstrably different with the Saints is that is was so systematic and entrenched.

Brees may not like his reputation soiled, but he is playing for a team that at best looked the other way - and at worst, condoned it!

The Saints truly deserve harsher treatment than they got.

And Brees - remember, this is not the NFL anymore, this is the Chick Football league - now they have appeal to the lowest dead common denominator and don't care for hits.

Just stop listening to what this NFL wants you to think and think for yourself.

Referencing the Saints alleged “bounty” scandal, and speaking on behalf of “all fans in America,” Brees stated during his recent appearance on the “Late Show With David Letterman” that, “…we are tired of hearing about it.” He added, “We don’t want to talk about it anymore.” So, what does he do next? Brees talks about precisely what he didn’t want to talk about any more, and proceeded to knock the league’s case as a “smear campaign.” Of course, the question begs: If Drew truly didn’t want to talk about “Bountygate,” then why appear on a nationally-televised show in the first place, and why at this particular time?

massappeal12345 says:Jun 29, 2012 10:01 PM

I guess that the Greg William’s injury rant tape was conjured up by the league.

At least bree’s went on a show, letterman, that very few people watch. If he wants to be more discreet, go on any msnbc show next time.

What do you think Gregg Williams meant on that tape when he said "we take away their will not their skill"?

Wait - what you didn't hear that part..... I wonder why that part wasn't played in the media. Anyway if you get a chance listen to the whole version of the tape and tell me what he meant. Thanks

"Unfortunately, it seems like it’s been more of a media campaign than it is actually finding the truth to the matter"

Now he knows how Ben Roethlisberger felt in 2010.

No probable cause for his arrest and yet Goodell suspended him anyway.

Where were the players then? Where was "Dig it" De Smith? Buying a new pimp hat?

You're insane if you think that the Saints case actually HELPS the NFL in the upcoming Concussion lawsuits. If anything the NFL has a strong reason to bury this story, because it establishes a pattern of NFL teams disregarding player safety and even ENCOURAGING injuries in order to win games. You think that makes the NFL look better as they are coming into a trial on past concussions? Those people suing the NFL aren't suing the NFL on what they're doing right now, they're suing the NFL on what they did. And if anything this poisons the image of the NFL as a place where players safety was ignored. It plays right into the argument that the former NFL players are making. If anything, they are opening themselves up to more lawsuits in the future for their past actions.

In no way does this help the NFL. Nobody is going to care that the NFL is coming down on the side of player safety now after decades of encouraging the opposite.
