San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith suffered minor injuries during what the team has described only as an “incident” early this morning.

Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee reports that Santa Clara sheriff’s deputies arrived at a large house party after 2 a.m. Saturday after reports of gunshots and found two people with gunshot wounds and one person with stab wounds. All three were taken to hospitals and none of the injuries are life threatening. It is not clear what the nature of Smith’s injuries were.

“The San Francisco 49ers are aware that Aldon Smith incurred minor injuries during an incident last night,” San Francisco General Manager Trent Baalke said in a statement. “We are in contact with Aldon, and thankful that his injuries were not more serious and that he is recovering comfortably. The 49ers are also in communication with local authorities as they gather information regarding the incident, and will reserve further comment at this time.”

This is the second “incident” with Smith this offseason. He was also arrested for drunk driving in January. As a rookie selected with the seventh overall pick in the NFL draft last season Smith recorded 14 sacks and was a key part of one of the best defenses in football.
