49ers: “Aldon Smith incurred minor injuries during an incident”

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith suffered minor injuries during what the team has described only as an “incident” early this morning.

Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee reports that Santa Clara sheriff’s deputies arrived at a large house party after 2 a.m. Saturday after reports of gunshots and found two people with gunshot wounds and one person with stab wounds. All three were taken to hospitals and none of the injuries are life threatening. It is not clear what the nature of Smith’s injuries were.

“The San Francisco 49ers are aware that Aldon Smith incurred minor injuries during an incident last night,” San Francisco General Manager Trent Baalke said in a statement. “We are in contact with Aldon, and thankful that his injuries were not more serious and that he is recovering comfortably. The 49ers are also in communication with local authorities as they gather information regarding the incident, and will reserve further comment at this time.”

This is the second “incident” with Smith this offseason. He was also arrested for drunk driving in January. As a rookie selected with the seventh overall pick in the NFL draft last season Smith recorded 14 sacks and was a key part of one of the best defenses in football.

I live in San Jose and word is that it was his house party and his hometown bros were acting up and things spiraled out of control.

Aldon… you’re a uber talented young man with so much potential. Get control of this now before it’s too late. There is no loyalty to people that will only bring you down so cut your ties and focus on your career bro.

WTH! The report is that Aldon is the victim that got stabbed. Even if he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, this dude needs to understand 2 a.m. is almost never the right place or the right time. GO TO BED!

Aldon has a great career ahead of him if he can keep his head on straight..No reason for an NFL player should be attending house parties in the bay area..to many gangs and hoodlums running the streets here..shame…to quote a bronx tale theres nothing worse than wasted talent..

When the 49ers said they wanted more production from Smith this year, I don’t think they wanted an increase in DUI arrests and incidents at out of control house parties. This guy needs to straighten out his act.

I don’t ever want anybody to be hurt in a manner like this or to hurt others. And as a Seahawk I can see that this can only lead to the pulling apart of the team. Too bad for the 49ers. Too bad for Aldon.

This is irritating. It seems like he is TRYING to piss his future away. C’Mon Aldon!

If it were up to the fans. A 20, 21, 22 year old fresh out of college would be at home by 9 p.m. and sleep by midnight. It’s about making better and smarter choices about who you hang out with and where. Not stopping your life to focus on a kid sport. This is his offseason. He deserves to have a little fun…Smartly! People need to stop with the “nothing good happens after 2 a.m.”

Nothing says “party” like gunshot and stab wounds. Who needs beer, music, women, and laughter?

Makes me miss my partying days fo sho.

    Aldon, meet Mr. Goodell.

  22. zillabeast says: Jun 30, 2012 8:07 PM

The guy is surrounded by a strong core of players who actually DO have their act together. Niners defense is still best in the league even when a key cog is missing. Sooner Aldon understands he’s fungible sooner he’ll humble up.

  23. peoplesrepublic0fdabayarea says: Jun 30, 2012 8:15 PM

    Charles Haley approves

  24. time2speakup says: Jun 30, 2012 8:16 PM

There are a lot of positive things that Aldon Smith is: gifted, talented athelete, high-ceiling prospect, etc., etc. And two scary and glaring negative things: still too young between the ears and too much money at his disposal. This kid is, I am very afraid, off to a worst start than most of us realize yet. And obviously no mature figure around to help him stay in check. And man does he need one. Too bad.

  25. folkcrusader says: Jun 30, 2012 8:25 PM

If indeed the guy got stabbed and the niners are helping him cover it up by saying he had “minor injuries”, then you can bet there is a lot more to this story.

Who had the guns? Who got shot?

  26. vman0626 says: Jun 30, 2012 8:27 PM

This guy is a beast. He gave my Giants fits in those two classic battles last season. Aldon, you have a great career ahead of you. Be smart, bro.

  27. 69finfan says: Jun 30, 2012 8:37 PM

If this was just an “incident” i’d hate to see what would happen if there were an altercation.

  28. txxxchief says: Jun 30, 2012 8:39 PM

Aldon and the other sophisticates were involved in an accidental acute expose to Lead. The incident will be investigated by the EPA.

just goes to show, you can take the boy out of the hood..but you can’t take the hood out of the Boy !

  30. fdugrad says: Jun 30, 2012 8:44 PM

It appears as though The NFL, as well as some players need to have Pac-Man’s number on speed dial. He could make a career out of working with high flying, high risk players well beyond his playing days. Think how many late/early morning ” incidents ” P-M has dealt with/caused and how he could relate and potentially help these fellow ledge-walking athletes get off the self-destructive precipice he knows so well.

  31. ctiggs says: Jun 30, 2012 8:51 PM

You guys are haters , who the heck hasnt been out to 2am while they were young, hell most of you still go out past that. The only facts we know is that he got stabbed and two people got shot. These are terrible facts ,but i dont believe one bit that this was the party goers goal is to stab and shoot somebody before they went out. It’s an unfourtunate incident , but lets wait to hear all the facts before we place the blame on a 21 or 22 year old kid , for doing what we all did at that age PARTY. PS. if this was GRONK you guys would spin it in away to love this story, and make light of the situation.

  32. rukkus1 says: Jul 1, 2012 11:20 AM

I use to stay out late all the time. Ive driven drunk. Ive been at a party where someone was run over. Ive been at a party where guns were pulled. Ive seen someone hung off a 4th floor roof.

You all need to quit acting like everyones life should be without incident. Aldon will probly learn from this and be the better man for it at one point.

If not, theres always the seahawks
