Jim Harbaugh gets preview ride on new roller coaster

Coaching has plenty of ups and downs, but none like the ones 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh experienced on Friday.

Harbaugh was among a handful of people who got a preview ride on Superman Ultimate Flight at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom.

“I really wouldn’t compare it to any other roller coaster ride I’ve ever been on,” Harbaugh said, per Jessica A. York of the Vallejo Times-Herald.

“One time, I had a chance to go up in an F-16 with the Blue Angels for a ride-along,” Harbaugh said.  “It compares more to that than it does a roller coaster ride.  It gets you right from the beginning, there’s no doubt about that.”

We’re not sufficiently diabolical to believe he’s not telling the truth about that.

And while now is the time for head coaches to be relaxing in advance of the upcoming seven-month grind of a season, this could be the best way to prepare for a season of very high expectations.

“It’s not for the faint of heart,” Harbaugh said of the ride.

Come December, he could be saying the same thing about dealing with Randy Moss.

Must have been a secret flight.

Otherwise, the USAF and the USAFADS (Thunderbirds) would have one huge case of the red-ass to find out (from PFT, of all places) that the Angels were flying their aircraft!

  3. At least he wasn’t the one wearing the dress shirt and jacket on a roller coaster.

Or the much much more likely scenario that Harbaugh isn’t up on his aircraft knowledge and mistook an F/A-18 hornet for an F-16… oh the humanity. He has to be lying because he misquoted the plane

  5. it amazes me how so many people do not like jim harbaugh for one reason or another & its totally understandable but, let it be known that the man has no obligations to pleasing his haters, yea i know that their is something to be said for being a “nice”guy & he maybe a D!** but, his job is to WIN games & be good to his players & family, not to make sure that he does not come across as a @$$h@!e for his haters, yes he does have a responsibility as a head coach of a NFL franchise to be professional & have some class as he is a extension of the 49ERS but, its not to satisfy his haters, besides i always preferred a straight forward no sugar coated type of person who was being honest then some smile in your face, lying through his teeth little weasel like should i say pete carrol!!!!!

  6. So he said F-16 instead of F-18. You’re really working hard to find a fault in the guy. Don’t worry it’s only going to get better for the niners under Haubaug. Go Niners!

  7. It is amazing. Let’s call it Harbaugh derangement syndrome. Poor fools. The better he does, the freakier they get. After this season, they’ll be tearing their hair out and drooling in the corner.

  8. Think hes happy now wait till you see the look on his face when there playing the Ravens in the Superbowl.

  9. Before the Navy de commissioned the F16, that’s exactly what the Blue Angels were flying. It happened when he was a coach at San Diago U before Stanford.

  10. That coaster is a capacity nightmare (One train; 12 people at a time) Good luck waiting in the que during peak season.
