A.J. Hawk knocks some guy into a pond

Bill Griffin probably wishes Packers linebackers coach Winston Moss hadn’t recently called out A.J. Hawk.

On June 21, passive-aggressive remarks from Moss critical of Hawk splashed onto the Internet.  The next day, Hawk aggressively splashed Griffin into an otherwise passive pond during a golf tournament that devolved into a game of touch football.

The video, which we found via NBC Sports’ Off the Bench blog, shows Griffin catching a pass and Hawk giving him a two-handed shove into a nearby body of water.

His year was just quiet,” Moss had said of Hawk.  “When he got in, there wasn’t a lot of tackle production and there weren’t interceptions so you look at his stat line and you say, ‘Well, what the hell did he do last year?’  A.J. is not a problem.  A.J. is not an issue.  A.J. didn’t play poorly last year.  He just didn’t make those impact plays.  I’m fine with what A.J. is doing.  But on the flipside of that, you want your guys being impactful and making plays.  He didn’t do it last year and I’m sure he’s not satisfied.  He’s going to respond accordingly.”

This was a great story…when it was on the Yahoo front page a week ago.

    This is old.

Even half-asleep Packer bloggers had this posted days ago.

Can’t believe PFT is down to ‘no news’ (again).

Can the guy in the pond now officially sign the NFL Lawsuit for concussions? lol

So AJ Hawk is “that guy” at parties…

  7. marionbarber24isgod says: Jul 1, 2012 5:32 PM

Looks staged. Some people are just lame.

Hate to be that one guy who looks at this negatively be look to the right of A.J. Hawk after he pushes him in the pond, he just so happens to be at the perfect place, at the perfect time recording his video.

The title is quite misleading, seems like everyone was laughing an having fun. Bill Griffin has a fun story to tell now!

    Geez, what a nice guy.

  11. skolvikings12 says: Jul 1, 2012 6:18 PM

The only tackle AJ will make all year.

  12. peester15 says: Jul 1, 2012 6:56 PM

This is so staged!! Even ESPN couldnt see that. Some loser millionaire golfer thought this would be a good idea to get knocked into a pond.

Pretty funny stuff. Looked like everyone was having fun.

  15. sampulls says: Jul 1, 2012 8:29 PM

That will be Hawks biggest play this year.

  16. source7769 says: Jul 1, 2012 9:53 PM

this just in Godell suspended hawk the 4 st 4 games of the season for violating the conduct policy

  17. dkleet says: Jul 1, 2012 10:34 PM

Al least now if the coach complains again, Hawk can say “what do you mean I don’t make any splash plays?”

Seems like an embarrassing display of terrible anger management. He has totally disgraced the packer team and franchise. Seems this guy is completely out of control! Why doesn’t McCarthy reel him in??? Packers need to cut him now! Apparently he hasn’t owned up to it and claimed responsibility for this senseless act. Cut him! McCarthy needs to get this guy under control before he hurts somebody. What an embarrassment. I’m sickened.

Noeffinway, Suh would have gotten flagged, suspended and fined for that, then brought up on assault and battery charges.

  20. granadafan says: Jul 1, 2012 11:35 PM

Yeah really tough to knock a guy half your size from behind into the water.

  21. noeffinway says: Jul 1, 2012 11:38 PM

Oh yeah and I forgot……he needs to apologize too! To the entire world! But only in his own words. If it sounds like a PR job, and I’m sure anything he says will sound like a PR job, then he should be ridiculed some more! smh…..

  22. contract says: Jul 1, 2012 11:44 PM

Griffin got both feet down, but did he maintain control when he went to the ground? Hard to tell from this angle.

  23. andrewproughcfe says: Jul 2, 2012 8:51 AM

Can’t blame AJ. He just can’t control his emotions after being on the first team ever to go 19-0.

    Oh wait…

  24. homelanddefense says: Jul 2, 2012 9:26 AM

when Yahoo sports is getting to stories a week ahead of you, its just kinda sad

  25. ragnarsbeard says: Jul 3, 2012 1:29 PM

AJ looks like Sloth from the Goonies with that short hair. Hurry up and grow your hair back so you can get back to looking like Spicoli in Fast Times.

Kudos for donating you locks to a good cause.
