ReutersThere were reports two weeks ago the Broncos weren’t far apart on a long-term deal with franchised kicker Matt Prater.
That gulf was apparently closed with two weeks to go before the deadline, as Broncos boss John Elway just tweeted that Prater had signed a new four-year contract.
Getting deals with all the franchised kickers hasn’t been as easy as some expected, with three still looking for theirs: Phil Dawson of the Browns, Mike Nugent of the Bengals and Josh Scobee of the Jaguars.
Teams have until July 16 to get a long-term deal done, or the tagged players can only sign the one-year tender.

I bet kickers have far and away the highest percentage of franchised players.
Prater easily has one of he more “Clutch” legs in the league. Ask Tebow
Now he can afford that tramp stamp.
Love the news! He has killer range and leg strength. Him and Colquitt make the best kicker/punter tandem in the league to go along with one of the deeper teams that will crush it unless Manning can’t stay healthy. Why can’t it already be football season again!?!?!?!?
Every kicker in Denver always has tremendous range. I don’t think it’s a coincidence.
Keeping him and not Tebow was smart. After all, the defense and kicking game won all of those games, not Tebow.

This is true, Denver is easy on the kickers when it comes to range, but the altitude doesn’t help your accuracy and confidence in clutch situations.
Prater made that 59 yarder in overtime at Soldier Field.
