Detectives look for witnesses to Aldon Smith stabbing

Aldon Smith AP

The party that featured a stabbing of 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith and a pair of shootings understandably has spawned a full-blown police investigation.

Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee reports that detectives in Santa Clara County hope to speak to anyone who witnessed any of incidents from the soiree gone haywire.

Per Barrows, the authorities who responded to the incident had no luck.  Despite the presence of so many people at the remote home that Santa Clara County deputies obtained backup from San Jose police and the California Highway Patrol, none gave any information about what happened.

It’s unknown whether and to what extent Smith has cooperated or will cooperate with the investigation.  Even though his injuries weren’t serious, he was stabbed with a knife — which in most jurisdictions amounts to a crime.

Maybe the same people who didn’t see anything in Atlanta will step up! Somewhere Ray Lewis is smiling.

nobody wants to talk then stop wasting taxpayer investigating it. no wait can’t do that or there will be a uproar by the same people not talking about how the police aren’t doing their jobs.

In the court of public opinion, I vote guilty.

Gasp, an investigation?!? Sounds like the police don’t believe the Smith’s agent who said he was a hero for breaking up a fight and risking bodily harm by stepping in front of a knife. And I almost made the mistake of thinking Aldon was Gandhi 2.0.

Not for nothing but who the heck is “Aldon Smith “? Seriously, has anyone outside hard core 49er fans even heard of this guy?

I have never been a millionaire but as a middle incomer who partied plenty when I was in my 20’s, and saw a good 15-20 fights in that span, never did I see anyone take out a knife. How do such promising individuals manage to find such trouble. You make 10 million a year and think you need to be out at 2am? This isn’t college anymore, the 99% who would kill to be in your shoes could either find a way to avoid trouble or be a professional and maybe find a bed after midnight. It’s simply ignorant for these guys to do what they do. I foresee a lengthy, likely deserving, suspension in Smiths future.

swingondeesenuts, Aldon Smith came within a half sack of tying the rookie sack record, he broke the niner’s rookie sack record, he was second for defensive rookie of the year behind Von Miller, and he had sacks in both playoff games. In addition, he had a DUI a few months ago. I think people beyond Niner fans should know this guy by now (for good or bad).

Who needs witnesses? Just ask Roger Goodell to decide who did it.

Why are people surprised? He is a 6.5 270 pound man and probably not prone to backing down to anyone!
Kinda wired that way, wouldn’t be to quick to cast him as a bad guy.
Time will tell, and could anyone be worse than the original LT or Charles Haley?
    Benefit of the doubt.

Wow the ignorance of some people. I’m not sure where you are from, but everywhere I’ve been in this country stabbings and shootings get investigated. No matter if the detectives believe he was a hero or not, two people were shot and one stabbed genius. SMH just telling you simple facts from the law enforcement side of it. I guess if a murder happened somewhere though they shouldn’t investigate as long as someone saved a 2nd or 3rd victim from being killed huh?

Yeah, good luck with that. I’m a medic in TX and can’t tell you how many times we go on calls where someone’s been shot/stabbed/assaulted and nobody saw anything. We made a call where a teenager was fatally stabbed at a party. 50 people were there and 20 said they were in the bathroom when it happened. Which was odd, considering the house only had one very small bathroom.

@goldrush36, way to completely miss the point. specialteamsposter was being SARCASTIC and was making fun of Smith’s lawyer who put out a ridiculous spin job about Smith heroically trying to stop a fight. I’m surprised the lawyer didn’t say that after getting stabbed, Smith then ran into a burning orphanage and saved a dozen kids as well.
