Signs continue to point to an eventual thaw between Brett Favre and the Packers.

What we know now is that there have been active efforts to break through the ice.

Former Packers president Bob Harlan told ESPNMilwaukee.com’s Jason Wilde on Green and Gold Today that efforts were made to get the prodigal quarterback back to Wisconsin for Mike Holmgren’s induction to the Packers Hall of Fame later this month.

Harlan said the Hall, which is operated independently of the organization, reached out to Favre via agent Bus Cook.

“We had a meeting about two months ago and talked about who should be invited back – Jon Gruden, Andy Reid, people like that,” Harlan said. “And, we talked about players. And I said to the group, ‘What about No. 4? This would be the perfect time for him to come back, come into Green Bay.’

“The crowd at the Hall of Fame banquet is an adoring crowd, they’re as loyal to the Green Bay Packers as anybody.’ And unfortunately, I don’t think he’s going to do it. We did approach his agent, and I don’t think Brett’s going to do it. I feel badly about that.”

Harlan said that the Hall called Cook without consulting with general manager Ted Thompson or coach Mike McCarthy first.

As others have suggested, Harlan thinks the reconciliation will eventually happen, and he hopes it’s before Favre is eligible for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2016.
