Hmm…you basically listed an unknown in Jeffrey(noticing many Bears fans are expecting pro bowl numbers as a rookie), and Hester & Bennett who both didn’t even top 400 yards in receiving with only 2 tds combined last season. I’d rather take production over speculation any day in Nate Burleson(757 yards and 3 tds), Titus Young(607 yards and 6 tds), and Brandon Pettigrew(777 yards and 5 tds). Even our back up TE Tony Scheffler had had better production than both Hester & Bennett with 347 yards and 6 tds. Since Bear fans are big on Jeffery, Lion fans are as equally big on Ryan Broyles who has had the better college career in terms of production.

You’re either a casual footbal fan, Bears’ fan—or both. Marshall’s a stud, Jeffrey was great in college, Cutler has a rocket and Forte’s a Beast…but, I don’t see much beyond that. I won’t bother to list them all, but, Detroit will cut skill position players that will end up on other teams’ starting day rosters. I’m not sure you can say the same for Chicago.

Perhaps. Calvin Johnson is of course about the best WR in the league, but to be honest, I don’t see much beyond that either. And come on, Hester has burned the Lions on many occasions, take a look at his highlight reel.

As a Bears fan I used to root for the Lions to get better. Once they did, it’s been nothing but overhyping themselves, REALLY dirty play, and acting as if they’ve won a Super Bowl. And that doesn’t even include all the arrests. Now you have a chronicly injured halfback proclaiming himself a “matchup nightmare”…please.

I think a lot of fans from other teams felt this way too, they were kind of keeping the Lions in their back pocket as their 2nd team to root for. I’ve never seen a team squander that much good will so quickly. Is ANYONE outside of the Lions’ fanbase rooting for them anymore? Or has Suh, Schwartz, Stafford and the rest of the half-wits in Detroit alienated themselves completely from the rest of the NFL?

WIN SOMETHING. Then talk. At least Chicago has won a handful of playoff games and been to a Super Bowl in the last decade/millenium.

But I’m sure the Lions will continue on talking, talking, talking themselves into more 8-8 seasons. And Jim Schwartz is more detestable than the Hoodie. At least Lovie Smith is a likeable guy, not one that shames his team and city by acting like a fool and signing really dumb criminals

Lets hope the Lions and Best are doing what is right for him as a person and not as a football team. Sure he’s a matchup nightmare, but if he gets any more concussions and he could be living a nightmare instead.

You kinda have to wonder if and when the Lions do to best what the Packers did to Nick Collins – release him for his own good.

The kids does have great ability, but he needs to make it through a season without concussions, turf toe, etc., to start talking like a stud!

Let’s be careful about calling Leshoure a “powerback”. Sure, he has a big frame, but in college he was known for his agility and cut-once-and-go speed…not his ability to run people over. His strengths lie in his footwork and ability to find the hole.

As for Best, throwing to him out of the backfield was one of the Lions’ most dangerous threats early last season. Handing off to him will result in a lot of 1 yard, drive killing gains, but also comes with the home-run, sprint to the endzone element. Personally though, given the severity and frequency of concussions he has sustained, I am not expecting much out of him as a Lions fan.

DUDE, do you not pay attention to training camp or something? Defenders were bouncing off Leshoure when camp began last season. He is actually quite comparable to Steven Jackson type back

I truly like Best, but as a Lions fan, watching him get hit is like watching a hemophiliac in a knife fight. We know it won’t end well. Hope nothing but the best for him as a person.

He’s a “matchup nightmare” until he falls on the turf hard or gets lightly tapped on the head and suffers his fourth of fifth concussion since college. When that happens he will either retire or the NFL will demand that he sit out for the rest of the season.

Best is an extremely gifted athlete. However, with his extensive concussion history…it’s (unfortunately) not a matter of “if” he gets another concussion, it’s “when” he gets another one. So, all it takes for a team to get rid of the “match-up nightmare” Best creates is to smack him in the head (intentionally or otherwise). He seriously needs to retire and better not have the audacity to sue the NFL for any brain damage he’s suffered.

Yeah but he’ll play all 16 games this year because the only coach that will game plan to “kill his head” is suspended indefinitely. In addition, because Roger Goodell has eliminated pay for performance/injury from the NFL for once and for all and returned safety, character and integrity to the game not a single player will “knockout” another opponent unless its an accident. Oh and when we’re done with all this yucky football talk lets all go play Candyland.
