So I’m hearing the League and NFLPA have contacted the Rams over the matter? Will they be contacting the agent who was also involved in the pre-draft “agreement” with the Rams? If such an agreement is against the CBA, then both sides should be investigated. It takes two to tango.

JJ must have missed the rookie symposium where Pacman explained what an idiot he was in his early years. This guy needs to wake up and appreciate what fisher is trying to do for him. The Not For Long league will drop players like nickels in a slot machine. JJ better realize he has but one crack at this, unlike his baby mommas.

I’m sure glad that the Lions didn’t draft this guy. Prior to the draft, I made the comment that he’s going to miss a lot of time on the field because he’ll be in court with all of his child support issues. He’ll be bankrupt within three years after he plays his last NFL game.

You are right, I didn’t catch the fact that it’s against the CBA. However, he did apparently sign some papers to “placate” Fisher. I’m really not sure how the legalities would play out if indeed there is a legal document with JJ’s signature on it. Jenkins may ultimately have to honor that even though he’s unhappy with the terms of the agreement.

This whole situation seems like a big mistake on the part of the Rams.

Well, the article says that it goes against the CBA between the NFLPA and NFL for a team to dictate to a player what financial advisor he must use. So this leads me to believe that a franchise CAN’T put it into the personal services contract, unlike dangerous off-season activity clauses.

Personally, I think the Rams goofed by drafting this guy. If they were concerned about the negative publicity of having a possible dead-beat dad on the roster, they simply should have drafted another player.

However, they do have the right to ask for this. It’s not that different from teams putting in clauses against pickup basketball, or riding motorcycles without helmets. When a player displays stupid off-the-field behavior, don’t be shocked when a team wants to modify the contract to account for the dumb behavior.

Are the Rams paying for this service, because correct me if I am wrong comparing forcing a player to hire someone to help him spend the money he earns is alot different than asking him to not participate in hazardous activities.

The rams drafted him and knew his history, nobody forced them to do it. If the rams want to make sure he is liable for his actions then dont guarantee a dime of his contract so they can can get out of it easily.
