Patriots include some familiar names in personnel department

You never hear much from anyone other than Bill Belichick in the Patriots organization.

So when they make changes to their front-office staff, it’s no surprise they keep it low-key.

Mike Rodak of ESPNBoston notes that in the soon-to-be-released media guide, several changes on the personnel staff were included.

Bob Quinn, the assistant director of pro personnel last year, was promoted to director of pro scouting. He replaces Jason Licht, who left for Arizona. National college scout Monti Ossenfort was also named assistant director of college scouting, and Reiss describes him as “among the risers in the scouting department.”

They’ve also added a pair of scouting assistants with NFL ties, adding former NFL quarterback Chris Simms and Mick Lombardi. Simms has been working on the field with the coaching staff during offseason practices.

Lombardi’s the son of former personnel executive Mike Lombardi, now an analyst with the NFL Network, who also happens to a long-time Belichick confidante.

Ya take pointers from Chris Simms. He was great! Not! He can however roll a mean joint!

Some new blood in the scouting department shouldn’t hurt them on draft day. Some of the 2nd and 3rd round picks from the past 2 years have been head scratchers to say the least.
