Source: NFC team assigns Josh Gordon third-round grade

The NFL’s 2012 supplemental draft will be held on Thursday, July 12. Former Baylor wide receiver Josh Gordon is the highest-rated prospect available for this year’s summer draft.

A source with knowledge of multiple teams’ thinking told PFT that Gordon has generated a third-round supplemental draft grade from at least one club. The club plays in the NFC.

The source also says high-ranking people at Baylor believed Gordon was a superior player to Kendall Wright during both receivers’ time in Waco. Wright was drafted with the 20th overall pick by the Titans this year.

Gordon didn’t end up with the same body of work as Wright in college, but NFL teams are enamored with his size, speed, and potential. In his lone full season at Baylor, Gordon recorded 42 receptions for 714 yards and seven touchdowns, averaging 17 yards per catch.

Tony Pauline of reported late Friday that Gordon will hold a personal Pro Day on Tuesday at Rice University.

That NFC team couldn’t be the one that drafted Gordon’s old QB, right?

    As a season ticket holder,

I’d like to offer Gordon a job with the Lions, he can have Nick Fairley’s roster spot.

    Go Lions

I could see the Vikings trying to grab him because we need someone with some size to go with Percy & Simpson.

Raiders will take him in the second

I would suppose that the Redskins should take a look at him since RGIII is so familiar.

He had a drug arrest before the 2011 season and he also left two different college football programs (Utah & Baylor), which is a big red flag that he won’t act professionally off the field. This guy is not worth giving up your 3rd round pick for.

well if you have to give a 3rd for him this leave out the Panthers because they don’t have a 3rd But if he was to maybe the 4th

I think Dallas finds their replacement for Laurent Robinson here.

  9. braddavery says: Jul 7, 2012 5:26 PM

If he has 3rd round potential, why was he not drafted in the 3rd round?

braddavery he did not declair for the draft that is why he is in the supplament draft.

Stl? We can use all the recievers we can an since we have 2 first rounders we can easily trade down and get a replacement pick next draft

This happens every year. There is a “leak” from a team with a high grade on a player. This is meaningless nonsense to increase interest in the article or propaganda from the agent. If a team liked a player and wanted to use a 3rd round pick, they sure wouldn’t broadcast it.

I would like Seattle to at least take a look at him as Sidney Rice’s health is a major concern and there is really nobody but a group of young guys vying for the number 2 spot. (Mike Williams is on his way out in my opinion.) Add in the fact that Pete Carroll loves those big receivers and it definitely could make sense for Seattle to take him.

That being said, highly doubt Seattle lands him though.

He’s better than Wright. Which means the Titans took Kendall at least two rounds early. Closer to the truth.

Russ Lande gave him an early 2nd Round grade.

This guy will get picked for sure.

Is Matt Millen working for a team again, who else would assign a 3rd round grade to a WR with character flaws?

I think it’s the cowboys that are putting the grade out there. Not that they will do it but they love receivers with his size. I do see the Redskins interested.
