I agree, cops and firefighters are heros. But heros come in all forms. What do you know about what he does for the community? How many people does he help?

If AP pushed someone for telling him to leave a bar after closing, it doesn’t matter if the guy was off-duty, or if he announced himself…It is still assault, and AP deserved to be arrested. If he then resisted arrest, then he’s guilty of that separately, even if the assault charge is ultimately dismissed.

AP has a 9-year-old daughter at home, that’s where he belongs at 2am., not out partying.

No problem with his dad’s comments, except where they pertain to the arrest incident, since he wasn’t there.

And finally, as a Bears fan I have no problem admitting that Adrian Peterson is a great football player…But playing football for a very nice living does not make you a hero. Being a cop or a firefighter, and risking your life everyday for less money in a lifetime than AP makes in a season…That’s a hero.

BUT, to lay blame solely on the “dirty” cop is laughable. Obviously, AP was drunk and was not cooperating with the cop/bouncer.

I’ve witnessed a place half way packed with underaged kids getting served and that’s no problem. The cop knows about that and doesn’t care. What they like to do is wait until just before closing time, then start antagonizing drunks. Most of us know it doesn’t take much to get a reaction. They get them to start up then arrest them. Sure makes the state a lot of money.

I think my IQ just dropped.

Ironically, the same people running down the Houston Police Department are the same ones defending Peterson while telling others that they quote “weren’t there.”

Police Officers, for the most part, are some of the most outstanding citizens in our communities. To become a Police Officer you have to pass background checks, polygraph exams, psychological exams, they even have to have good credit.

What’s it take to play football in the NFL ? You have to have athletic talent. Half these guys don’t even score double digits on the Wonderlic.

The most telling aspect of Peterson’s arrest is his mugshot. If you’re outraged, angry, mad, and seeking medical attention for shortness of breath, why do you have a stupid looking grin on your face ?

NFL players think they can do whatever they want to whoever they want because no one can touch them. I’ll bet Peterson and his group had no idea they were messing with a real cop and thought they were messing with some stupid bouncer.

HOW DARE he hire a lawyer? Wow what an ignorant comment, and people upvote it here? Amazing, Florio somehow made people here think only white men can have lawyers.

However, if you are a cop you also know there are cops out there that lie, cheat and intentionally provoke situations like this. You also know that the fact that the assault charge was immediately dropped means that no assault ever happened, which is exactly why Peterson reacted the way he did.

Unfortunately, whistle blowers within the police force typically have their careers considerably shortened or made more difficult.

It is not a fair or just system of retribution for such a courageous act.

Bar bouncer was an off-duty officer. Probably not in uniform or was he? Cops always know they are cops and sometimes expect the same response from people whether they are in uniform or not.

Take alcohol into the mix and there are potential problems. At this point I don’t find the cop’s explanation completely convincing nor do I find Peterson’s explanation as the final answer. Closing time is a tough time of the night.
