“Being able to stink for a single season and to be rewarded with one of the more polished passers to come out of college in years was a nice consolation prize for the Colts. If you’re going to replace a Manning, this is the way to do it.”
———————————
Perfect example of why there needs to be a draft lottery for the NFL. It’s too easy for an owner to have his franchise “stink it up” and cover up the conspiracy. Jim Irsay’s annoying tweets never fooled me.
----------------------------------------------
If they were trying to "stink it up", then why would they replace Painter (who was horrible) with Orvloski for the last 6 games? With Painter there was no way they were going to win games and lose the #1 pick. With Orvloski they won a few games and came close to losing the #1 pick.

As far as a draft lottery, that's working out real well for the NBA. How many times has that thing been accused of being rigged?

Why would the players ever go along with someone telling them to “stink it up”? They have careers to think about. Even if they give up playing for the team, they still want to play for their own benefit. Besides, most of these guys enjoy the game and have too much pride to purposely play poorly.

-------------------
Because that is the easiest explaination for what happened last year. Being a long time Colts fan, I understand that the gamble was on Manning. NO ONE ever took any first string snaps but Manning, so when he goes down, yeah we are gonna suck. And yes the result happened to be the rest of the league crying because we went from Manning to Luck.... deal with it folks. AFC South, enjoy it while you can, we WILL be back.

I would go:

32) Colts
31) Rams
30) Vikings
29) Browns
28) Jags

The Colts do not have the personnel for a 3-4 and are undergoing a complete organizational overhaul. I would put the Colts last and then tied for 28 is the other four teams that all have issues and plan on pounding the ball. They all suck though.

The Colts were not that bad. There backup QBs were the worst in the history of the NFL and this is a quarterback driven league.
Luck should be happy he has two promising TEs in Fleener and Allen on board. That's what the Panthers did last year for Cam...give a rookie QB two good short to intermediate options with big catch radius'. Having Reggie Wayne back is big for Luck to.

The problem though, is that Luck is going to be running for his life because that offensive line doesn't look very strong right now, and they don't really have a running game that Luck can lean on.
