Michael Floyd gets back to work after Fitzgerald calls him out

Michael Floyd AP

Arizona receiver Larry Fitzgerald said before the NFL draft that he was hoping the Cardinals would select receiver Michael Floyd, noting that the two of them are both Minnesota natives and that the two of them could work together during the offseasons.

Now Floyd is finding out that Fitzgerald is serious about his offseason work.

On Monday, Fitzgerald took to Twitter to call Floyd out, saying that Floyd had missed three workouts in a row and that Fitzgerald was going to have to question whether Floyd really wanted to be a great receiver.

Apparently Fitzgerald calling him out publicly was just what Floyd needed as motivation, because today Floyd was back to working out with Fitzgerald.

Whether Fitzgerald was seriously upset with Floyd for missing workouts or just playfully giving him a hard time, Floyd is lucky to have a veteran like Fitzgerald to show him the ropes. And he’d be wise not to miss many opportunities to work with Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald is going to be an awesome mentor for Floyd.

Sounds like Fitz would be a great coach one day.

And that’s what having a great leader does for your team.

DWI hmmmm, I wonder what caused him to use that phrase with Michael Floyd?

Last year, Christian Ponder was going to miss the afternoon workout because he had an appointment with his realtor, and Fitzy chided him into staying. If you work out with Fitzy, you’re going to work out.

Just as long as Fitzgerald or his device’s auto-correct aren’t responsible for teaching him out to spell “squatted”…

Floyd has no idea how lucky he is. I am still sick over what Fitzgerald did to the Eagles last year and in the NFC Championship game a few years back, but I gotta say I have a ton of respect for the man. He is a bad dude.

Somehow I don’t see Moss doing that with Crabtree .

Michael Floyd is just glad the FSU defense isn’t there to hit him until he doesn’t want to play anymore like in last year’s bowl game.

That kid has a lot of quit in him. For his sake, I hope Fitzgerald can coach it out.

Fitz is probably the closest thing to Jerry Rice NFL has seen (along with Johnson – although I don’t know about his work ethic).

Now only if Hines Ward would do that to Mike Wallace. Wait a minute.

Larry Fitzgerald and Calvin Johnson are cut from the same cloth. They both have incredible natural skills, but neither one of them rests on that alone. They both have incredible work ethic.

Best spot to land as a rookie wr. Fitz is the new j.rice. Work ethic surpassed by none.

If Larry Fitzgerald played in New York City, he’d already be in the Hall of Fame. He’s that good.

    Yoo hoooooo, Larrrrrry, it’s “squatted.”

Santonio Holmes has no idea why Fitz got so upset.
