The Sheriff’s Office in Broward County, Florida, is seeking Antoinne Robert Hester, who is reportedly a relative of Bears receiver Devin Hester, in the July 4 shooting death of 20-year-old Bevins Bennett.

FOX Chicago News reported on Tuesday morning that Antoinne Hester is Devin Hester’s brother, and that law enforcement has been in contact with Devin Hester in connection with the matter. The station then changed its report to say that Antoinne is actually Devin’s cousin. Antoinne Hester’s relationship to Devin Hester was first reported by Jon Leiberman of HLN TV, who at first reported that Antoinne is Devin’s brother and then reported that Antoinne is Devin’s cousin.

Michael C. Wright of ESPNChicago.com also first reported that Antoinne was Devin’s brother but then reported that law enforcement agencies informed him that Antoinne is Devin’s cousin. The Broward County Sheriff’s Office told Wright that it contacted family members, including Devin, and “everyone has cooperated.”

The Broward Sheriff’s Office says that Bennett and Antoinne Hester were in a car together early in the morning on July 4 when Bennett was shot. The driver of the car took Bennett to a nearby emergency room, where Hester got out of the car and ran off. The motive for the shooting is unclear.
