Have ya ever heard of a team called the Chicago Bears? They’ve got this Peppers guy that’s kinda good, and some fella called Urlacher that’s alright as well. Briggs too. More that I’m forgetting at the moment.

God, I hate the Bears, but if you think facing them twice a year is fun for any QB, you need to think again.

Rodgers has missed one game in 7 years, not counting sitting out the last game of last year, not due to injury.

True but the fact of the matter is that Rodgers is not tougher than these guys. Rodgers plays in a softer division than both Eli and Flacco, where the defenses are elite. In Flacco’s case he has to face 3 top 10 defense a year and yet he still has never missed a start. Eli also has to face the likes of Trent Cole, D-Ware, Orakpo and Kerrigan. Who does Rodgers face other than Allen? Don’t say Suh because he had like what 5 sacks last year?

Look at the hits the guys I named take and look at what Rodgers takes and don’t tell me that Rodgers is tougher. He probably wouldn’t survive in the AFC North. Oh and it’s easy to only miss one start in 7 years when you ride the pine for 3 of those years…

So Rodgers is a system quarterback? Seems to me that a lot of other teams should be copying the Packer`s system then. Give up the “If Rodgers goes down, the Packers are toast” drivel. Please, all of you football experts please explain to the rest of us which team is going to win the Superbowl with their backup QB. And it`s no fair saying the Vikings because all of their QB`s are backups.

The Ravens went to the SB with their backup QB. Dilfer did not start until like week 4, just sayin’…

The Packers have done this over and over with unknown QBs in their history…Mark Brunell, Ty Detmer, Matt Hasselbeck. Harrell has been in McCarthy’s QB school for a few years now, and he has shown improvement every year in preseason, culminating in a late-game winning drive in the last game of last years’ preseason.

And just because he went undrafted shouldn’t mean much. Flynn was a 7th rounder and took the spot from Brohm, who was a 2nd rounder. It’s about how well they fit into the system, and early reports are that Harrell has come into camp with more muscle and a stronger throwing arm. I trust TT and MM to decide if Harrell is a better backup than trading a draft pick for Colt McCoy.

Aaron is one of the top three toughest QB’s in the NFL. Combine that with his quickness and pocket sense to avoid the big hit he is a low risk for injury. He is also smart enough to not risk injury by trying to pad his numbers. (He does not need to.)

He is a cerebral fitness freak who works hard on improving his agility and flexibility with the right off season program.

Packer Fans only worry for him should be a concussion from some Bear/Viking/Lion prick with a deliberate helmet to helmet hit.

Either this “report” is too late or too early – for the sake of not getting deleted, I vote that PFT is so way ahead of the curve on their excellent and prescient NFL coverage!

Colt would be better with the type of O Green Bay runs and would be a serviceable backup for Rodgers if he went down. The key is “serviceable”. Colt could keep the Packers in some games for the short term until Rodgers could come back but he wouldn’t win a Superbowl.

If Cleveland could get a low draft pick or decent bench player and BJ Coleman I’d do the deal. I actually like Coleman as a long term project and the trade would help both teams.

Why not give Jamarcus a try? He beat out Flynn at LSU. Definitely better than Harrell.

Dennis Dixon would be a decent fit as well.

OK, so I don’t watch GB practice every day. I don’t know Harrell’s skills. I do know, though, for a fact, that if Rogers goes down, for any reason, the Packers are done. D. O. N. E. Unless their backup is a miracle worker or steps up in Hollywood fashion, the Pack is in the Back.

I do hear, though, that in Seattle, they are pretty darn high on the little (- and I say that carefully because the kid is a helluva player) Wisconsin QB, Russell Wilson. There is little interest in a certain T.Jackson and the local experts expect him to be released. Yes, I hear you groan. TJack has quite a few NFL starts under belt. Does McCoy? I heard McCoy wants to stay in Cleveland, if you can fathom that. Orton would be a find but I can’t see him accepting a backup role that easily. TJack has accepted that in every team he’s been on. And every time, he’s come in to start. Win? Some, yes. Ridicule, sure. But he’s tough as nails, guys.

My biggest point is that GB insists on drafting their studs and takes little interest in free agency. So Harrell must have some gifts out there hidden to have risen to #2 on the GB QB chart. But then GB didn’t draft Harrell, either. So what’s up? Is the kid at #3 a college stud?

I personally think TJack would be better than McCoy myself. Watching McCoy twice a year against my team, I have the impression he is not a NFL QB, even in a backup roll. He doesn’t have the ability to take control of a team and lead them to a win and often looks lost out there. Jackson is also a warrior, playing last season with all sorts of injuries while McCoy quit on his team in the NCAA title game against Alabama, the biggest game he’ll ever play in. Jackson is also more talented than McCoy, who is a product of the same system that game the NFL the gift of Vince Young. Harrell also came from a similar goofy college offense that doesn’t translate to the pros.

Either way as it’s been said before, it’s really going to hit the fan if Rodgers goes down for multiple games, but I think Jackson would be a better option if Rodgers is only knocked out of part of a game.
