Dolphins surface at No. 27 in Preseason Power Rankings

The Dolphins might be ranked 27th in our Preseason Power Rankings, but they’ve got something that the 26 teams in front of them don’t have.

They’ve got their very own summer reality series on HBO and that is going to give them a higher profile heading into the season than some teams that will wind up with better records and/or playoff berths. High profiles don’t always result in wins, though, and you can tell by where they fell in our rankings that we don’t think the Dolphins will wind up with many of them.

Our preview outlines the reasons why we think the Dolphins belong near the back of the pack. Are we right?

Let us know in the poll below whether you agree or not.

Would be easier if you guys would say whether 1 or 32 is the “high” end of the spectrum. It can easily be interpreted either way and the unscientific poll could be tragically skewed :/

they go 6-3 to finish the year

Beat the jets to end the year but I’m sure they will be ranked top 10 with all their fabricated hype

They should be at least top 20

They have a decent defense and no offense. Regardless of who is at QB, whether it’s Henne or Tannehill, who are they going to throw to? The only receiver they had was traded off to Chicago.

The most overhyped team in any sport in the past 20 yrs..that hasn’t won a thing…by the time that show is over, the media will the fish in the top 15…and I will enjoy watching them stink it up for another year! SQUISH THE FISH

Also “the only reciever we had” had 9 touchdowns in 2 years and led the league in dropped passes, and also had 2 off the field incidents in back to back years, his wife stabbing him, and getting into a fight at some club because of his wife, so Chicago can have him

They had a a decent defense by the end of last season. Couldn’t score enough though.

Dealing Brandon Marshall and replacing him with Chad Ochocinco doesn’t look like a step in right direction.

New coaching staff will switch to a 4-3? Start who at QB? Hope Reggie Bush stays healthy?

I’d be shocked if they win more than 6 games, does that put them too high, too low, or just right?

Team is cursed with Jeff Ireland and a meddling owner. A lot of future hopes riding on Tannehill, but Garrard probably the best QB to start season and give them a chance to win. Will Tannehill earn starter status or be thrust into the job based on injury or losing record and need for a change?

I think it is ridiculous that Cleveland is the worst team in the whole poll. Usually the worst team has no quarterback.

Yes, Sam Bradford was the Rams’ quarterback, but he was injured during many parts of the 2011 season.

Usually, the team either has a failing first-round QB from multiple years back, no first-round QB, or or a bunch of scrubs at quarterback.

The Jaguars might be in that category. The same could be for the Jets, Seahawks, Cardinals, Chiefs, and the Raiders.

I can see how the media and fans of other teams see Miami as one of the bottom teams but they are putting way too much emphasis on Marshall’s departure. To put things into perspective last year was Marshall’s best year as a Dolphin yet Miami ranked 23rd in passing. In 2010, Marshall’s 1st year with Miami which was considered a disappointing year for him Miami’s passing offense ranked 16th. To push thing even further in 2008 the starting WRs for Miami was Bess and Ginn. That year their passing offense ranked 12th in the league. These WRs will not make a QB look good like a Andre Johnson Or Megatron does, but they will make plays if the ball is placed right. Which like always for Miami everything hinges on the QB and IF Moore plays the way he ended the year or Garrard could regain his pro bowl form Miami will surprise a lot of people. That IF is the only reason I can not argue with this ranking.

1)”The most overhyped team in any sport in the past 20 yrs..”

just no…until 2001 they were one of the most successful teams in the league…so more like 11 years

    2)”that hasn’t won a thing…”

they have won a few games here and there

3)”by the time that show is over, the media will the fish in the top 15…”

??? I’m going to assume you’re saying the phins haven’t taking a beating in the last few months from the media

4)”and I will enjoy watching them stink it up for another year!”

I have a feeling your going to be a little disappointed my friend

and lastly I fail to understand why this idiot’s post wasn’t deleted but my previous post with lots of pertinent info refuting his claims was removed…

Ok, the bottom 6 (in any order) were pretty obvious. Interested to see who’s next. I’m guessing Washington or Oakland, but really the next 10 or 12 could go in any order. (ari, sea, kc, tb, ten, nyj, no, den, buf, or sd). All could be wild card quality or terrible. (teams not listed seem locks to be playoff contenders) (and yes, all afc west teams were listed bc all are question marks)

if you finfans can not see that your team has been overhyped for years..you are blinded by all that sun in S.Beach. Compared to other .500 teams, the fish have had multiple prime time games every year for the past 10 yrs! The only reason they are on TV is the glitz and glamour of Miami…J.Lo, Fergie, chacha con, and whoever else they wheel out, it is not for the product on the field. Wake up and smell the roses!
