They landed at No. 30 on the PFT Preseason Power Rankings, one spot ahead of the Colts. The more relevant question is whether they’ll be able to fend off the Colts for third place in the AFC South.
And so we went to a guy who knows a thing or two (or more) about the Jaguars. Mike Dempsey of 1010XL joined PFT Live to give us a closer look at the team as the 2012 season approaches.
The biggest issue currently looming over the squad is the holdout of running back Maurice Jones-Drew, the NFL’s 2011 rushing champ. In the very same edition of PFT Live, Shaun King of NBC Sports Network predicted that Jones-Drew will sit out 10 games of the 2012 regular season, unless he gets a new contract.

“The biggest issue currently looming over the squad is the holdout of running back Maurice Jones-Drew?”
Actually, their biggest issue is who will be their starting quarterback this year and the coming years. I mean, Blaine Gabbert … seriously?

People who don’t pay attention to the Jags don’t realize how good their defense is. Blaine Gabbert is only going to get better.
I expect 9-7 at best, or 7-9 at worst. With a tough schedule this year, probably more like 7-9 though. The most important thing to Jaguar fans is getting the answer to if Gabbert is the answer at QB for the future.
