APThe Colts have taken care of business with top pick Andrew Luck, signing the quarterback Thursday afternoon.
Owner Jim Irsay has been tweeting about it being close for what seems like a month, but Indianapolis Star beat writer Mike Chappell tweeted out the news minutes ago.
There’s no drama left in such negotiations, as the Colts weren’t in a position to quibble over offset language. From a financial standpoint, it was expected all along to be nearly identical to the four-year, $22 million deal Cam Newton got a year ago.

So are you saying he signed, or that he’s close to signing?
Is it me or is this Luck guy always associated with being “close”? Close to getting a deal done, Close to winning the Heisman, Closest thing to being Peyton Manning…..WHEN WILL HE BE THE SURE THING?…Or will he ever be?
Where’s all Luck haters? RGIII has received nothing but grief from so many chumps on this website. SMH. We’ll see what’s up on Sept. 9.
About damn time. Should have been done before the draft if you ask me. No reason to not have the first pick signed prior to picking him.
After trying on the helmet the Colts gave him, Andrew found it a bit small so he signed it and gave it away to a four year old.

How about you let the kid play a game first before making a foolish statement like that??
Peyton was “close’ to winning the Heisman back in the day too…I think he turned out alright
Does his contract contain the dreaded “offset clause”.
Luck signs for $24-mil for four years. RGIII got $25.1-mil for four years guaranteed and a fifth year option. I hope both do well. What is to be gained by trying to tear these young men down?
It’s way better not having to pay an unproven rookie a trillion dollars!
