Since the 49ers didn’t reach a long-term deal with franchise-tagged safety Dashon Goldson, it might be some time before they get an extension done with anyone.

Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com reports that there are few logical targets, and the first might be linebacker Navorro Bowman, whose rookie deal expires after 2013.

With nearly $3.4 million in salary cap room, the 49ers aren’t in a position to do a lot of deals, and that grooves with their pending free agent list.

Other than Goldson, who can’t sign anything other than a one-year deal until the end of the regular season, the biggest name among the 49ers expiring contracts is nose tackle Isaac Sopoaga, followed by guys who are either backups or dangers to not make the 53-man roster.

That list includes wide receiver Randy Moss, but he’s a day-to-day proposition, and not the kind of player you make long-term plans around.
