The call was to the letter of the rule…which has not changed. The correct call was made. Whether you like the rule or not is a different story.

i say give the replacements a shot.women included.the quality of officiating seems to have gone downhill the last few years anyway (though granted it is a tough job).who knows,just maybe some of the replacements could be more than adequate and even better than some already doing the job.

not the way I want to see that barrier broken. people will look back on it with a “yeah but” or an asterisk. its a shame for her to have to hear that but that’s just the way society is. alot of people will say she didn’t earn it but it was an circumstance of opportunity. it’d be great if she could do well and actually get hired to stay on and legitimize her presence. no reason why she can’t do the job. I wish her the best.

Having viewed life from the “3 score and ten” perspective, each time there is a significant breakthrough, I find it interesting how we all eventually conclude, “Hey, we could’ve been doing this all along.” Hopefully, here we go again.

The only concern with a female ref would be, that amazing moment we all enjoy when a ref gets light up.

But if these withered dinosaurs that currently ref can take the hit, a woman born this side of the civil war should be just fine.
