The 49ers surprised a lot of folks by emerging as a powerhouse NFC team in 2011 — Jim Harbaugh’s first year as head coach. But it’s not out of the ordinary for teams that “surprise” one year, to take a big step back in the next. Seeing as we ranked the Niners as the NFL’s fourth best team entering training camp, it is our opinion that Harbaugh’s club will stay comfortably atop the NFC West division and avoid major regression.

And here’s a link to our 49ers season preview.

But we want to know how you feel about that. So place a vote in our poll:

  1. Hilarious that 50% think it’s too high. Let’s be honest. The real Super bowl last year was the NFC Championship game. 9ers would have beat the Pats or the Ravens as well as the Packers who have no answers for a great defense as evidenced last year in the playoffs.

  2. Way too high! This is a team that plays in the worst division in football, has a terrible QB, and their best wide receiver is a 35-year-old who wasn’t in the league last year. Not to mention they only had 2 players on IR last year. No way they’re that lucky again this year.

Their defense is pretty damn good, though.
