Dez Bryant’s mother doesn’t want to pursue charges

Cowboys Bryant Arrested Football AP

Roughly a week after Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant’s mother called the cops on her son, Angela Bryant has decided that she wants to call off the dogs.

According to the Associated Press, Angela Bryant has told the authorities that she doesn’t want to press charges against Dez.

Bryant was arrested on July 14 after he allegedly hit his mother across the face with a ball cap and grabbed her by the T-shirt.

Though Angela Bryant’s decision doesn’t mean the case will be dropped, it will be hard to achieve a conviction if Angela Bryant isn’t inclined to cooperate.

Sure, throw her a pile of cash and she’ll stop cooperating but do you really think his maturity problems are going away? This could be a teachable moment for Jerry but we all know he’s an enabler as well. Remember his security detail/baby sitters for Pacman? How did that work out?

States shouldn’t allow these cases to be dropped. Some don’t. Whether the person press charges or not. If he’s done it once he’s done it twice. And he’ll do it again. These issues just don’t go away. He will be sent to a program by the NFL during his suspension.

It’s only because he is a Dallas Cowboy that all the haters have something to say.. Donte Stallworth got drunk, drove over a man that was on his way to work and killed him. He did a month in prison and was suspended one season.. You don’t think that family got paid?

I think Angela is an Eagles fan.

–My 2 cents: I say lay off Dez. There has been no conviction, and no direct proof Dez wasn’t defending himself.

Anyone that says Dez needs suspended is only saying so because they know he’s a core element to the Cowboys offense.

Dez did not drive drunk like David Deihl, or ol Skittles. Those guys put their lives at risk and the public.

  38. olewize1 says: Jul 23, 2012 10:28 PM

  39. drgreenstreak says: Jul 23, 2012 10:28 PM

Dez’ mama has been arrested 17 times. Several times for neglecting Dez just a few years ago when she kept him from going to school.
She’ll get over it. It’s her only meal ticket. Dez needs counseling at how to deal with her and others in his life.

    ===============================

This really has nothing to do with money. If you and other had listened to the 911 call, she can be heard saying that “this is the last time”; meaning that he’s acted like this before and she likely let it go and thought that things would be different and that he would likely grow up.

This sounds as she is playing the role of the unwilling enabler; desperately wanting Dez to change, but can’t get “tough enough” to do what needs to be done/what SHOULD have been done.

As long as Dez has enablers around him, he will likely NEVER change.

  41. hannahsdaddy says: Jul 23, 2012 10:30 PM

Act however you want son! As long as you and your money doesn’t leave me like when I was 13 and conceived you.

  42. norcal031 says: Jul 23, 2012 10:45 PM

She does not seem like a bad lady, had a rough past but it seems like she called the cops because she has had enough. Its like a kid whose mother has had enough of his tantrums records them and shows them to people to embarrass him.

  43. bluebongzilla says: Jul 23, 2012 10:46 PM

Hilarious. Now “poor Dez’s mom” is back to “money-grubbing crackhead hooker”.

C’mon, he allegedly struck her in the wrists. Really? REALLY? I suppose he struck her in the wrists with his face?

And have you heard anything from Jerry Jones since this arrest took place? Yeah that is what I thought – JJ hasn’t said not one thing and either has Garrett but you know what Romo came out and supported Dez and said he’s got his back. The Boys have finally learned with Garrett in a leadership role how to finally come together as a team. Better be scared NFL because they are coming full steam ahead!

  45. fdugrad says: Jul 23, 2012 11:02 PM

Certainly predictable, however what, if anything will the ‘Boys or The Comish do to consequent and redirect this loose cannon? Enabling him yet again will further hardwire this impulsive and dangerous behavior.

    ————-
Actually the man had finished work and was running across a 4-6 lane highway illegally in attempt to catch a departing bus rather than cross properly and catch the next one in 15 minutes or so. Donte was indeed drunk but there were some extenuating circumstances which is why the legal penalty was lightened. Stupidity on both their parts contributed to the accident.

  54. reasonlogic says: Jul 24, 2012 3:01 AM

Though she might get paid…. and I’m sure he is taking care of his mom like most son’s would want to regardless of her past, I think there are at least two factors here; 1) he is her son. He can be forgiven by mom. 2) the hood rule of thumb is to never snitch. Oh and 3)…. Never snitch to the level of finalizing everything with the law. Sure the police were called but to go through to the point if legal action against your own is breaking rules #2 & 3

  55. reasonlogic says: Jul 24, 2012 3:22 AM

In thinking further about my own post…. I can’t fully believe that those are “hood rules” given all of the circumstances. It’s probably just because she’s his mom. The natural consequence is that they will never be able to change what has happened.

  56. phyglenaut says: Jul 24, 2012 3:39 AM

Anyone who doesn’t / hasn’t had an alcoholic or drug addict for a parent shouldn’t be allowed to comment on this issue. For those who don’t know what that is like . . . it is practically unbearable and the absolute internal agony it causes for the child pushes children beyond any limits anyone should have to endure, especially if the parent is abusive and/or employs abandonment upon their child. Dez is most likely attempting to protect / confront her about her lifestyle and trying to be the savior with his money and his stardom. He very likely was under the impression that his success would pull her out of her disparaging lifestyle, and as he’s slowly realized that isn’t the case he’s resorted to frustrated attempts to confront her. I can almost guarantee that is what is going on. He needs to get in Al-Anon or Nar-Anon for adult children of addicts to help him to stop letting her dominate his life. Shame on Angela Bryant.

  58. djaehne says: Jul 24, 2012 4:03 AM

The commissioner will have to suspend him no matter what. 4-6 games.

  59. logic4sale says: Jul 24, 2012 4:41 AM

Man, I hate to admit it but Jeff Ireland was right on the money. The woman has been a crack addict that spent time in jail and has been a concern by league staffing since BEFORE he even entered the NFL. That right there should tell you something. Ofcourse she doesn’t want to press charges because she probably triggered the event but then realizes she might lose her meal ticket. Seems like the simple “ME COMPLEX”. Everyone is very quick to judge Dez but I’m more than positive there was much more to this story. This is just a case of his own mother costing him money if he is held out for any time at the expense of calling the police for something she now thinks wasn’t a big deal. Everyone talks about his immaturity but who do you think raised him (or didn’t “raise” him)?

  60. promickey says: Jul 24, 2012 6:56 AM

Roger Goodell might say; Messing with your Mom is detrimental to the NFL Shield.

So what if she hooked to keep him alive. The real pay day is now and moving forward.

  61. trubdeuce says: Jul 24, 2012 7:20 AM

You guys have no morals. You dont know him or his mother that well yet your calling her crackheads, & prostitutes. Judgemental mf’ers! Its ok cuz my boy Dez is gonna bounce back from this & have a great career. Him & his mother are very close & all this controversy will do nothing but bring them closer. He will learn from this then watch out.

  62. rodeoclownclint24 says: Jul 24, 2012 8:16 AM

How can you say dez’s mom is enabling him? She is the biggest problem jailed 17 times on probationfor supplying false info to police. He should stay away from her she is just trouble

  63. finsfrontofficeisajoke says: Jul 29, 2012 12:32 AM

It pains me to say it, but Mr. Bryant makes Jeff Ireland look smarter just about every day!
