We mentioned earlier this afternoon that Mike Peterson was the sensible replacement if the Falcons were afraid Lofa Tatupu was going to be out any amount of time.

Well, no word on Tatupu at the moment, but they did sign Peterson today.

The Falcons announced the move this afternoon, reuniting them with a former starter.

Peterson provides solid cover in the short term, but if Tatupu’s going to be out any amount of time, you’d think they’d start getting Akeem Dent, last year’s third-rounder, ready to play.

Tatupu was injured last week in the weight room, suffering what was termed a “serious” pectoral injury.
