PFT Live took a little summer vacation last week, but camps are opening and the show is back to provide your midday dose of football.
Mark Kriegel will join Mike Florio to talk about his new role on NFL AM, the NFL Network morning show that kicks off next week. They’ll also talk about how the league should be dealing with off-field incidents and whether the concussion crisis will force changes to the NFL like the ones boxing experienced after Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini killed Duk Koo Kim in the ring in 1982. Kriegel has a book on Mancini coming out in September, which will be a must-read if it is anything like his masterful biographies of Joe Namath and “Pistol” Pete Maravich.
Off-field issues will also be on the docket when Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press joins the program. The Lions parted ways with cornerback Aaron Berry on Monday as a result of his two offseason arrests and we’ll hear about what else the team might have in the works after seeing their players wind up in handcuffs seven times since the end of last season. We’ll also check in on the players that haven’t been guests of the state as the Lions get ready to start training camp.
