Harbaugh says Ed Reed will report to training camp

After weeks of sending messages suggesting that a training-camp holdout is coming, Ravens safety Ed Reed has provided the clearest signal yet.

He’ll be there.

The Ravens proclaim via their official Twitter page that Reed has told coach John Harbaugh that the veteran Pro Bowler will be present and accounted for on Wednesday.

Harbaugh also said he has a “great talk” with Reed, who skipped a mandatory minicamp last month without warning.

Reed presumably wants a new contract. His current deal expires after the coming season, with a base salary of $7.2 million. It’s unknown whether the “great talk” included a commitment that the team will work to give him long-term security.

If a new deal is to be done, Reed may first want to hire an agent. According to NFLPA records, he has no representation.
