I hope the Skins pound the Cowboys twice this year, make no mistake of my loyalty to my team. I bet most fans of other teams wished they had owners like Dan S and Jerry. Owners that spend whatever it takes to put great players on the field and really really care about their teams. Hail!

As a Redskins fan I can hate a lot on Daniel Snyder and some of his business tactics, but honestly, if some company wants to pay for the right to have a section of the parking lot named after them, I couldn’t really care less. As long as it doesn’t somehow inhibit fan ability to park. And hey, on the plus side, they are installing all those solar panels to help power the stadium… so he isn’t totally evil.

Totally agree as a die-hard Redskins fan. Lots of teams name the parking lots, owning an nfl team is a big business and should be treated as such. Yes, ticket prices are high but the players make ALOT of money and somebody has to pay for it. I actually like Danny Boy! He isn’t afraid to spend big bucks to put quality players on the field, he wants to win football games. He grew up a Redskins fan and really really cares about his team. When he hired Joe Gibbs out of retirement he was nearly crying and overjoyed. It was like his childhood hero was standing next to him with the 3 Lombardi trophies right there. Yeah he went and go Bruce Smith and Deon Sanders but has always wanted to win.

I love how when he hired Mike Shanahan he agreed to stay out of it and let Mike do his thing. Let Mike hire his own people and draft how he wanted to and choose the FA’s he wanted. Mike has done an excellent job so far. He traded down last year to stockpile picks, didn’t go out and get aging superstars. Yes the skins gave up alot to get RG3 but they had to and it made sense. Rex was avg and John Beck was avg. We needed a franchise qb. RG3 is intelligent as ever, athletic, strong arm and most importantly Grounded. He’s not going to be out there making it rain in strip clubs, getting dui’s or slapping his baby momma around.

I think Danny Boy finally “gets it” and Shanahan is an excellent coach. Look out for the Skins this year and going forward.

This would seem to be the key point here.
I think that what most of the people who have a problem with this deal object to is not so much the fact that the Redskins have a potential new revenue stream (and by the way — more money doesn’t equal better players), but that the team is getting a break that other business don’t, and that the county — the taxpayer — gets nothing back in return for this exception.

But how, exactly, is a company spending part of their advertising budget to sponsor a lot, or any event, “squeezing money” from the community?!!

Taxpayer dollars aren’t going for this. Are they?

Now, stadium deals… THAT I can see as bilking. But accepting non-public money for property rental? That’s just business. And it makes sense, too.

The Florida Panthers at onetime had a parking lot close to the arena that if you had a Lexus you parked for free.

Everything has potential to be sponsored, its if the client thinks their company will benefit from being associated with that idea.

First, this is a common practice in the NFL.

Second, no most of us do not have cities bending over to improve our cash flow…but most of us do not pump tens of millions of dollars in jobs and sales tax revenues into our communities either.

Sure reads like an uniformed cheap shot at the Redskins.
