I also think that punishing people at the university now is pointless. JoePa is dead, and everyone else is in prison or fired. Why deny kids the possibility of a scholarship because of something no one even there now had any part in? Vacating wins only hurts a guy thats already dead, and 'punishes' the kids that played those games for something not even related to football. They didn't cheat, they broke no NCAA rules that I'm aware of, etc. Punishing the program for the actions of people that are no longer connected to the program or university, as well as for actions that in no way affected or changed ANYTHING to do with the program is ludicrous.

While I agree with Sean Lee about Penn State not doing anything, it is unacceptable that 500,000 or more should be punished. The main culprit, in my thinking, is the assistant who did not follow up his initial report with the university police, the State College police or the State Police. To find Paterno and the AD guilty seems logical, but now the former President is denying anything reached his desk.

Strange to me, I attended both SMU and PSU, but I have no quarrel with the SMU penalty. This deal is different; the NCAA got involved with a criminal situation far too soon. "Stick to thy task".
